2022-2023 RPAC RUNDOWN OUTSTANDING SENIOR STUDENT-ATHLETE WINNERS

For the first-ever RPAC Rundown Outstanding Senior Student-Athlete Award, we had a number of great nominees. These nominees were selected by their respective schools and then voted blindly by a panel the RPAC Rundown put together.

This panel consisted of people in the media, athletic offices, members of college academia, and upper-level management positions in corporations. The panel then selected four winners, two female and two male student-athletes, from the Western and Eastern divisions of the conference.

The criteria for the award consisted of excellence in the classroom, activities, and athletics. They also had to show consistency in their athletic involvement, competing in 10 total sports seasons.

West Male- Trey Robertson of Wallace High School

  • He has had an outstanding high school career. He is involved in many activities and has kept a 3.93 GPA throughout high school.

  • He has received multiple Academic All-State awards.

  • He has participated in football, cross country, basketball, track, speech, play production, music, and FFA. He has been a leader in all of these activities.

  • He is also part of the National Honor Society.

  • As a sophomore, he was the class D state champion in the 2 mile at state track.

  • As a junior, he was an all-district football player, and then during track season, he found out he had a blood clot in his leg. Because of this, he could not run track during his junior season. Also because of the blood clot, he could not play football during his senior season. He switched to cross country, where he became the class D state champion in that as well.

  • As a senior, he was an all-conference basketball player.

  • He is now in the middle of track season where he hopes to bring home more state medals.

  • Trey was noted as a very hard-working kid; very deserving of this award.

East Male- Cole Barnett of Southwest High School

  • Cole has been out for 12 seasons of sports over his high school career.

  • He will join our "Tremendous 12" award list by completing 4 years of Cross Country, Basketball, and Track.

  • Cole is a state qualifier in State Cross Country twice in his career and has been a four-year starter for the basketball team.

  • He has been an academic all-state in all three sports over his involvement making the list 9 out of 12 seasons he has participated in.

  • He is class ranked #1 for his class and is a Silver Medal RPAC Academic winner this year.

  • Cole has been a medal winner in the RPAC Cross Country Meet twice, and has won multiple medals in individual and relay teams at RPAC Track.

  • He is also a "peer mentor" for the elementary and has been class president for his class at Southwest.

  • He has been a member of NHS and completed community service for the Ronald McDonald House in Omaha.

  • It was noted that Cole is a highly respected and appreciated student at Southwest. He is dependable and accountable and kept in high regard by the teachers and administration.
