RPAC Softball Results as of 9/17

Last week the Southern Valley/Alma Saints played a trio of games and won two of them. First, they fell to Centura-Central Valley, 13-1. The Saints struggled to get much going at the plate and in the circle in this one.

They found themselves behind 10-0 by the bottom of the second inning and couldn't recover. Brynn Bailey was 1-2 with one RBI. Izzy Dubbs had one hit in the game too.

The Saints then took on Hersehy in a double-header. The Saints won both and in the first game, they won 18-15, a shootout to say the least. The Saints found themselves down 2-0 going into the bottom half of the second inning. Southern Valley/Alma reeled off three runs in that inning and then seven in the bottom of the third and they led 10-2. Hershey countered with 12 runs to the Saints' eight next two innings. Luckily Southern Valley/Alma built a big enough gap and secured the victory. In the circle, Brynn Bailey went 4.1 innings, 14 runs scored, two of them earned, nine strikeouts, and eight walks.

Mikah Schultz went 2.2 innings and allowed just one earned run. Maddie Zade was effective at the plate, as were many other members of the team, but Zade was 3-4 with four RBIs.

In their final game of the week, the Saints beat Hershey 10-9. Hersey jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top half of the second inning. From there, Southern Valley/Alma had to claw back into the game. In the bottom half of the third, they scored three runs and trailed 6-3. Then, Hershey scored two more runs to lead 8-3. The Saints though, scored seven runs in the next three innings to secure the win. Amy Luke was 2-4 with a pair of RBIs and Sarah Holste was 2-4 with a pair of RBIs too.

Southern Valley/Alma is 7-9 and will face Ord and Central City on Monday and then Highway 6 on Thursday. Also over the weekend, Gothenburg hosts a tournament the Saints will compete in per the NSAA Schedule.
