The 48th annual Summer Honors Program began on Sunday, June 8th, and runs through Friday, June 20th.

Per their Facebook page, here's an explanation about the Summer Honors Program. "The Summer Honors Program is an accelerated summer school sponsored by Educational Service Unit #11. It is designed to help rural Nebraska high school students study advanced subject matter with instructors who can take them beyond most rural high school curricula. Students are selected for the program after being nominated by their high school teachers. The finalists are selected on the basis of performance on an exam or work samples. Instructors who come from all over the U.S. and beyond for the program are selected on the basis of the caliber of program they can provide and the type of work they have done within the field of their expertise."

We had the opportunity to visit with recent Alma graduate Harper Fennel, who has spent a significant amount of time at Summer Honors and is an intern this year. She tells us about the program, what students specialize in, the activities, the instructors, and more.
