Alma Hosts Bertrand and Cambridge for Volleyball Triangular

On Thursday, September 3, 2026, Alma hosted a triangular with Bertrand and Cambridge in attendance.

In the first set, Bertrand captured the victory, 25-23. They built a nice 9-5 lead. Then they got up 12-7, and Alma had to take a timeout. They started to pull away, getting up 24-19, but Alma reeled off four straight points to force some pressure on Bertrand. The Vikings closed out the first set and took the victory.

In the second set, Alma won 25-17. They took a commanding 6-2 lead. Bertrand, though, made a rally about halfway through the set, tying it up 14-14. Alma slammed the door on the comeback and was able to take the victory by going on an 11-3 run.
In the third set, Alma took the victory 25-18, but both squads made several serving and attack errors.
Alma defeated Bertrand, 2-1.

Alma had seven aces in the match. Vayden Epp led the team with 15 kills, and Taylor Pool had eight kills.
Bertrand had four aces in the match. Adrian Sand had seven kills to lead the Vikings, and Livia Philips and Jocelyn Hernandez had five kills each.

Bertrand vs Cambridge
In the first set, Bertrand got the first point and led 1-0, but Cambridge quickly took over and went up 7-2. Then they extended that lead to 17-9. Bertrand took a time-out at that point. The Trojans closed out the set, but they made several serve-receive errors; still, they won 25-18.
In the second set, Cambridge jumped out to a 7-3 lead. They sent that lead up to 19-11. Brooklyn Holtze served several aces, and Cambridge continued to take care of business, winning the set 25-18 and the match, 2-0.

For Cambridge, Brooklyn and Joslyn Holtze each had nine kills, for a combined 18. Kyrie Houghtelling added four kills.
For Bertrand, Livia Philips had seven kills, and Hernandez added four kills.

Alma vs Cambridge
The first set was very competitive as Alma took a 7-3 lead, and Cambridge had to take a time-out. Hausermann of Alma had three aces out of that timeout to build the lead even more at 10-3. Then Brooklyn Holtze of Cambridge countered with three aces of her own. Alma took a timeout. The teams traded the lead back and forth, but Cambridge eventually won the set 25-22.
In set two, Cambridge took an early 3-2 lead and then extended it to 12-8. That forced the Cardinals to call a timeout to regroup. The Trojans extended the lead a little more out of that timeout to 14-10. The two exchanged points, and Alma was forced to use their final timeout at 21-15 in favor of Cambridge. The Trojans closed out the set, 25-19, and won the match, 2-0.

For Cambridge, they had seven aces in the match. Joslyn Holtze had seven kills, Brooklyn Holtze had five kills, and Kyrie Houghtelling and Elisabeth Kubik each added four kills.
