ALMA SPRING SPORTS PREVIEW

ALMA RETURNS EXPERIENCE AND BRINGS IN YOUNG GROUP

Isaac Frecks is returning two girls with state meet experience this year and looks to compete hard this spring.

Addison Neal competed at the 2021 state track meet in the 4x800 meter relay as well as the 800. Addison Siebels was also part of that 2021 4x800 meter relay team, unfortunately for Siebels, she will be out for the season due to injury. Harper Fennel also looks to be a key contributor to the Cardinal's success this spring.

Alma will open their season with the Bertrand Triangular on March 21st.

CARDINALS RETURNING MAJORITY OF SQUAD, LOOKS FOR COMPETITIVE SEASON

Head coach for the Alma Cardinals, Isaac Frecks, has a solid group of boys out this season and a large number of those athletes are returning from last year.

Peyton Herrick is returning this year after competing in the high jump at the state meet last spring with his personal record being 6'1". Frecks also looks for Griffin Stemper and Jaxson Tischner to be contributors this season.

The Cardinals will begin their season on March 21st with the Bertrand Triangular.

ALMA GOLF RETURNS A SOLID GROUP OF GOLFERS

The Alma Golf Team is under the direction of a new head coach, Brendan Johnsen. Johnsen though, has spent five years as an assistant for the Cardinals, so the transition should be smooth for Alma. Johnsen provides an outlook for his group.

"We lost a great player, Grant McQuay, due to graduation. Grant was a consistent medalist for us as well as a state qualifier in Class C. However, everybody else who appeared on varsity from last year is returning. We also have a couple of incoming freshmen that could contribute to the varsity rotation as well."

Ryan Brugh medaled twice last year, and Ryan Kermmoade and Jack Waldo medaled once last year.

Alma will start the year at their own triangular on March 24th.
