On Wednesday, April 1st, 2026, Cambridge hosted its annual golf invite with a large field of golfers in attendance. It was a chilly day with wind playing a factor on a number of holes, especially the back nine. But we did see some solid scores posted. Let’s check out the results.

Prior to finding out who would take home first, we had a four-player playoff between Hitchcock County's Brayden Melchert and Jack Baker, Jaxson Ohlman of Shelton, and Landon Shepherd of North Platte St. Pat's.

We had two playoff holes. In the first playoff hole, Brayden Melchert hit a great second shot to place himself close to the pin. Jack Baker's second shot ricocheted off a tree, but he recovered with a solid third shot and a short putt for par.

Melchert and Baker each parred the hole as did Ohlman, so we had another playoff hole. Melchert hit a long putt from the fringe for par. And then Baker countered with a long putt to make birdie and win. It was an excellent competition between a pair of teammates.

We interviewed both Baker and Melchert after the playoff. Interviews brought to you by Acme Printing Company.
