Bertrand Shuts Out Hi-Line on Friday Night

Bertrand hosted Hi-Line on a warm and toasty Friday evening. Bertrand won the toss and deferred to the second half, and Hi-Line started with the ball.

The Vikings got on the board first, with 8:58 left in the first quarter. Drake Olesen scored from the 6-yard line, but the two-point conversion failed. Bertrand led, 6-0.


And that's where the quarter ended, with Bertrand leading 6-0.


Hi-Line started the second quarter with it being 2nd down and 4 yards to go on the Bertrand 37-yard line. The Bulls faced 4th down and 6 on the Vikings' 28-yard line with 9:20 left in the quarter. They came up short, with Bertrand forcing a turnover on downs.


Bertrand took over on the Hi-Line 30-yard line with 9:09 left in the first half. Hunter Nelson took it for a touchdown on the first play of the drive with 8:59 left in the quarter. It was a 50-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was no good. Bertrand led 12-0.

The Bulls had trouble getting set on 3rd and 4 on Bertrand at the 17, which forced them to call a timeout with 4:32 left in the first half.


Out of the timeout, Hi-Line fumbled the football, and Bertrand recovered it on the Hi-Line 36-yard line for first and 10 with 4:26 left in the quarter.


Another score for Hunter Nelson as he ran it in from 34 yards out for a touchdown with 1:49 left in the first half to make the score 18 to 0. The two-point conversion was no good.


Out of the timeout, Bertrand got in the backfield for a sack, but it was called off due to a facemask on the Vikings. That call advanced Hi-Line to a first down with less than 1 yard to go. Morton threw the ball, and it was intercepted by Payton Way, and that is how the first half ended. Bertrand led 18-0.


Coming out of the half, Bertrand received the kick. Bertrand had a big run from Hunter Nelson to advance to the Hi-Line 18-yard line with 11:15 left in the 3rd quarter.


Hunter Nelson had an 18-yard touchdown run that was called back due to a penalty on the Vikings. Bertrand was able to move the ball, and Kellan Vinzant was able to punch it in from 2 yards out with 9:47 left in the 3rd quarter. Bertrand went up 24 to 0. The two-point conversion was no good.


From 24 yards out, Hunter Nelson of Bertrand scored to make the score 30-0 with 7:17 left in the 3rd. The two-point conversion was no good.


Hi-Line started their drive on their own 9-yard line. Bertrand got in the backfield and tackled well to force a 4th and 11. Hi-Line was forced to punt, and it was short. Hunter Nelson recovered it around the 35-yard line all the way for a touchdown. This put Bertrand up 36-0 with 5:12 left in the 3rd. The two-point conversion was good as Drake Olsen passed it to Chris Hock to make the score 38-0.

Bertrand took it over at the 40-yard line. Drake Olsen threw a pass to Way. It was a 40-yard touchdown pass with 1:27 left in the 3rd. Drake Olsen to Chris Hock on the two-point conversion was good. Bertrand led 46-0, and that was the score at the end of the 3rd quarter.


On their next drive, Hi-Line was forced to punt. Hunter Nelson muffed the punt, but recovered it on their own 35-yard line with 9:45 to go in the game.


Chris Hock scored a touchdown with 5:48 in the game from 12 yards out to make the score 52-0. The two-point conversion was no good.

Bertrand is 1-1 and will face Overton in Week 3.


Stats For Hi-Line


The Bulls had 26 yards rushing. Lucas Cochrane had 27 yards rushing and Gage Rupp had 34 yards.


HI-Line is 0-2 and will face South Loup in Week 3.
