Cambridge Defeats Southern Valley in Furnas County Battle

Southern Valley hosted Cambridge on Friday afternoon for a Furnas County Battle. Cambridge took the road win, 46-36.
Hunter Lans returned the opening kickoff deep into Cambridge territory, but Cambridge made a defensive stand and took over on their own five-yard line. On the Trojans' first play from scrimmage, the snap was fumbled in the end zone and recovered by Kyson Bose. The two-point conversion was good, as it was 8-0 with 8:50 to go in the first quarter.

Cambridge answered with a touchdown of their own as Braxton Mitchell found Roy Hoelscher from 20 yards out. The two-point conversion was good, and it was tied at 8-8 with 5:56 to go in the first.
That was the score as the first quarter ended.

Southern Valley didn't go away, as they continued to show great effort. Houston Hunt found Hunter Lans on a 22-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion failed, and the score was 46-36 with 31 seconds remaining. The Trojans ran the clock out and got the win.

Southern Valley had 216 rushing yards and 161 passing yards. They had two fumbles lost. Hunter Lans totaled 138 yards and two touchdowns. Sully Bantam had 43 yards and a touchdown. Houston Hunt was 19-21 with 161 yards and a touchdown. Lans led Eagle receivers too with 61 yards and a touchdown.
For Southern Valley, they are now 4-3 and will play Blue Hill on 10/23
Cambridge had 145 rushing yards and 131 passing yards. Braxton Mitchell was 10-12 with 131 yards and two scores, and an interception thrown. Roy Hoelscher had four catches for 66 yards and a touchdown. Asher Gerlach had three catches for 52 yards and a touchdown. Hoelscher had 49 yards rushing and a touchdown, Braxton Mitchell had 47 yards and a touchdown, and Cole Cobb had 37 yards rushing
Cambridge is now 6-1 and will play Pleasanton on Friday.
