Cambridge Takes Down Arapahoe in Rivalry Matchup

Arapahoe played host to Cambridge on Friday night in week one of the football season. The Trojans secured a big victory, 68-16. The Trojans had a massive game on the ground, totaling 383 yards rushing.
Cambridge got the game started with a nice drive, which was capped off by Micah Gerlach as he rushed in from nine yards away. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 8-0 with 9:43 in the first.
The Trojans struck again, this time a 24-yard pass from Gerlach to Brady Ahlemeyer, along with a two-point conversion, and it was 16-0 with 7:23 in the first. Cambridge again scored a few minutes later, this time a 33-yard pass from Gerlach to Hodge Raburn, and after the two-point conversion, it was 24-0 with 4:23 to go in the first.
Arapahoe was able to answer as Hayden Sich scored from 50 yards away, and the two-point conversion was a success, 24-8 with less than two minutes to go in the first.
Then the game got a little wild. Ahlemeyer scored on the ensuing kickoff from 70 yards away, and you guessed it, the two-point conversion was good.

Arapahoe then had Hayden Sich return a kick from 72 yards away for a score; the two-point conversion was good again. It was 32-16, and that was the score heading to the second.
From there, Cambridge took control of the game. With 6:39 to go in the half, Ahlemeyer scored on a 23-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 40-16. Just before the half, Braydon Miller had a big run, 49 yards for a touchdown, and the conversion was good again. It was 48-16, and Cambridge carried that lead to the half.
In the second half, Ahlemeyer had another touchdown, this time from 40 yards away, to push the lead to 54-16 with 10:35 to go in the third. That was the score heading into the fourth.
In the final period, Braxton Mitchell scored on a broken play from 32 yards away to make it 62-16 with 6:49 to go following the two-point conversion, and then Devan Rodriguez ran it in from 18 yards out and made it 68-16.
For Arapahoe, they had 33 yards passing, coming from Briggs Hill, and 138 yards rushing on 36 attempts. Hill threw one interception. Hayden Sich had 59 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Hill had 29 yards rushing for Arapahoe, too, on 22 carries.
Sich had 72 yards on kick returns. On defense, Hill had 12 tackles to lead Arapahoe. Rigley McDonald had four tackles and an interception.
For Cambridge, they had 84 yards passing, 383 yards rushing on 35 attempts, which is a 10.9 yard per carry average.

Micah Gerlach was 4-7 passing with 84 yards a pair of touchdowns and threw one interception. Rushing totals: Brady Ahlemeyer had 85 yards and two touchdowns, Gerlach had 84 yards and a score, Krayton Ruggles had 71 yards, Braydon Miller had 56 yards and a touchdown, Braxton Mitchell had 54 yards and a score, Devan Rodriguez had 23 yards and a touchdown, and Cole Cobb had three carries for 10 yards.
Hodge Raburn caught two passes for 60 yards and a touchdown, and Brady Ahlemeyer had one catch for 24 yards and a score. Ahlemeyer had 84 yards from kickoff and punt return yards.
On defense, Miller had 12 tackles and two sacks, Perks had nine tackles and a sack, Gerlach had 10 tackles and two sacks, Ahlemeyer had seven tackles, Myles Stanton had seven tackles, Sean Polly had seven tackles, and Ben Harris added five tackles. Ruggles had an interception, and Conner Long had a fumble recovery.
Arapahoe is 0-1 and will face Bertrand on the road on Friday. Cambridge moves to 1-0 and will play at Franklin on Thursday.
