Alma played host to Bertrand on Thursday, December 4th, to begin the basketball season. The Cardinals came away victorious in both the girls and boys games.
In the girls matchup, Alma is a team with high expectations this season. And they started strong this year, winning 67-23. Early on in the game, Bertrand was able to beat the Alma press and get some decent opportunities. And that pressure from Alma was tough and eventually the Cardinals got some easy buckets. They led 28-8 after the first quarter.

In the boys game, Alma, who also has some high expectations this season, got the win over Bertrand 45-32. In the first quarter, it was tough sledding on offense as Alma led 8-7. Both teams have good length and made it hard to get solid looks at the hoop.
In the second quarter, Alma opened things up by getting out in transition and forcing turnovers. The Cardinals took a 30-11 lead heading to the half. In the third quarter, Bertrand began chipping away at the lead and trailed 38-24 heading into the fourth quarter.
