Dundy County Stratton Defeats Wauneta-Palisade on Friday Night
On Friday, September 25, 2026, Wauneta-Palisade hosted Dundy County Stratton for high school football. This was a D3-7 district battle. The Tigers came away with the win, 34-8.

The Tigers had the ball on their opening possession and scored when Noah Zoltenko ran it in from 30 yards out. The two-point conversion failed, but it was 6-0 with 10:07 to go in the first quarter.
Wauneta-Palisade had a promising first drive, as they ran a number of plays and chewed up about six minutes of clock. But they couldn't convert a 4th down, and a few plays later, Trynt Unger scored from 16 yards away. The two-point conversion was no good, and it was 12-0 with 2:31 to go in the first quarter.
The score was 12-0 heading to the second quarter.

The Tigers scored with 3:34 to go before halftime as Trynt Unger ran it in from 9 yards away. That play occurred on a fourth-and-one situation for the Tigers. They led 18-0 at that point.
Just before the half, with 27 seconds to go, Unger found Tagen Yrkoski on a 30-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 26-0.
It was 26-0 going to halftime.
With 8:39 to go in the third quarter, Unger found Cooper Shaw on a 19-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 34-0.

The Broncos got on the board with about 50 seconds to go in the third quarter when Barrett Frecks found Bennet Wiese on a 20-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 34-8.
That was the score heading into the fourth quarter. The teams traded possessions for the remainder of the game, and no scoring occurred.

For Wauneta-Palisade, they had 76 yards rushing and 61 yards passing. Barrett Frecks totaled 46 yards rushing and 61 yards passing. He threw for one touchdown too. Ayden Baker had 29 yards receiving and 26 yards rushing. Bennet Wiese had 29 yards receiving and a touchdown. The Broncos are 2-4 and will be @ Bayard on 10/2.
Dundy County Stratton had 356 yards rushing and 58 yards passing. Noah Zoltenko had 192 yards and a touchdown. Trynt Unger finished with 132 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He also had 58 yards passing and two touchdowns. Tagen Yrkoski and Cooper Shaw each had a touchdown reception. Henry Blecha had nine yards receiving and 24 yards rushing.
The Tigers are now 3-2 and will face Sutherland at home on 10/2.
