Dundy County Stratton Sweeps Crawford - Punches Ticket to State

After snapping a 109-match losing streak last season on August 31st, 2024. Fast forward to November 2024, and the Tigers came up short in a four-set district final match. This season? The Tigers came out in attack mode. It all built up to Saturday's D2-4 District Final with the #4 Tigers hosting #13 Crawford. Dundy County Stratton swept the Rams, 3-0, earning the District Championship and punching their ticket to the state tournament next week.

In set one, Crawford struck first and took the 3-0 lead. The Tigers pulled within one, 3-2, but the Rams took the 8-6 lead. DCS evened the score at 8-8 and then hit the gas. Crawford called a timeout, trailing 10-8, to try and slow the Tigers down. It worked as the Rams regained the 11-10 lead, but it didn't last long, as DCS took over and went up 18-13, forcing Crawford to use their final timeout. The Tigers won the first set, 25-15, and took a 1-0 lead over Crawford.
In set two, it was similar to the first as Crawford took a 3-0 lead, but the Tigers evened the score at 3-3. DCS extended the lead to 6-3 and created some separation with a 15-8 lead, and Crawford used a timeout. The Tigers went on to win the set, 25-10, and took a 2-0 match lead.

In set three, Crawford took a 2-1 lead, but the Tigers went on another run to extend their lead to 9-5 and forced the Rams to use a timeout. DCS went on to take the third set, 25-16, and won the match, 3-0.

Unofficially, Crawford had two aces in the match. Peyton Osmotherly had three kills, Leah Holgren had three kills, Ada Norman had two kills, Keslyn Vogel had one kill, and Kylee Osmotherly had one kill.
Unofficially, Dundy County Stratton had 10 aces. Emily Schack had 16 kills, Ava Lutz had 12 kills, Abi Spargo had six kills, and Clara Spargo had three kills. Kimberly Escobar was strong from the service line, and Bree Lutz ran a great offense.

Crawford's season came to an end with an 18-12 record.
Dundy County Stratton will advance to the Class D2 State Tournament next week with a 26-6 record.
