Dundy County Stratton, one of the top teams in D1, went to Elwood on Friday night to take on the Hi-Line Bulls. This was a D1-9 District matchup, and it was an excellent, physical, hard-nosed matchup. DCS was able to come away with the win, 32-14.
The squads traded possessions for a while in the first quarter. Finally, though, at the 1:17 mark in the first, Dante Horner scored from three yards out. It was 6-0 then, and that score carried into the second period.
In the second quarter, Brody Diefenbaugh of Hi-Line scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak. Gage Rupp punched in the two-point conversion to make it 8-6. Not another point was scored in the period, but it was full of action. DCS was driving late in the half and with 2:57 to go before the intermission, the Bulls forced a turnover on downs. Hi-Line wasn't able to do much with that possession.
