Hammond throws a No-Hitter, Saints Continue Strong Start to the Season

On Tuesday, September 1st, 2026 the Southern Valley/Alma Saints hosted Fillmore Central for softball action in Stamford at Bill Dunkhas Memorial Park.

In the bottom half of the first inning the Saints got on the board first as Kaitlyn Bradley singled to score Hayden Deyle. That was the first of 10 runs as the Saints were dialed in at the plate. And needless to say, the Saints never looked back and dominated the game, winning 15-0, as they won via the run rule.

In the second inning, it was much of the same as they held Fillmore Central to no runs and no hits, and then scored five runs. The offense was impressive for the Saints, but the work inside the circle was the main story. Jorja Hammond pitched a no-hitter. She went 3.0 innings, allowing no hits, no runs, two walks, and four strikeouts. She had total command of the game and kept the Fillmore Central offense at bay.

The Saints collected seven hits: Hayden Deyle went 1-2, Ava Dunse went 1-2 with three RBIs, Kaitlyn Bradley went 2-2 with two RBIs, Mikah Schultz was 1-1 with an RBI, Jorja Hammond was 1-2 with three RBI's, and Macy Johnson was 1-3 with an RBI. Alexa Miller was 0-1 but had two walks and a couple of RBIs, Amy Luke had an RBI, and so did Sydney Baker.

The Saints are now 9-3 and will face Chase County on Thursday on the road.
