Hi-Line Sweeps Southwest on Tuesday Night

On Tuesday, September 8th, Hi-Line hosted Southwest in Eustis for volleyball.


We began the first set, and Hi-Line took a 3-0 lead. But both teams made several service errors, which kept the match close for most of it. Jumping ahead, things were tied up at 17-17, and Southwest took a timeout. Hi-Line then extended their lead to 21-17 before another timeout was taken by the Roughriders. Hi-Line was able to close out the set and win 25-19.

In the second set, it was all Bulls. They jumped out to an 8-3 lead, then a 10-3 lead, and Southwest took a timeout. The Bulls extended their lead to 18-8 before another timeout was taken by Southwest. Hi-Line won the set 25-14.



In the third set, both teams continued to struggle with hitting and serving errors. Hi-Line had more errors in the set, but they were able to overcome those errors and get the victory in the third set, 25-20. But it was tough to get the set victory. Southwest took a 6-5 lead at one point. But then Hi-Line came storming back, tied things up at 17-17, and then eventually got the win.

Stats are unofficial


For Hi-Line, RiLee Schutz had 14 kills, Lauryn Ruda had seven kills, Bristol Kubert had five kills, and Klaire Pohl had four aces and three kills.


For Southwest, Mila Nelms had seven kills.


Hi-Line improves to 4-2 and will have a triangular on Thursday with Cozad and Bertrand in Cozad.


Southwest is 3-4 and will host Southern Valley and Sutherland on Thursday for a triangular.
