High Level of Competition at Arapahoe Results in Low Scores

It was a beautiful day for golf on Tuesday in Arapahoe. With minimal to no wind on the course, the scores reflected that. The course there in Arapahoe was in solid condition considering how dry it has been, the greens in good shape and read pretty true as the golfers putted. Fourteen teams were in attendance, including nine RPAC schools. Let's take a look at the team results first.

As you can see in the results above, a lot of good scores from the day.

Hitchcock County placed fourth as a team with a 340. They also had the top golfer of the day, Jack Baker. Jack shot a 74 and was smooth on his approach shots and on the greens. We caught up with him after the invite and got his thoughts on the day.

The 74 from Baker was a new school record for the Falcons.

Brayden Melchert finished 13th for the Falcons. We also visited with his coach Adam Wright about their performances.

"They were both solid. Both shot 39 on the front. Jack came back one under on the back nine, that was really good."

Southern Valley finished fifth with a 345 and leaned on Kamden Bose with a 6th place finish and an 80 and Braxton Hammond was solid, an 81 and finished 9th. Jace Hammond broke 90 with an 88 and finished 21st. This Southern Valley team will continue to get closer to hitting their stride like last year.

Alma took 6th with a 358. William VanBoening finished 15th with an 85. Crew Bennet finished 22nd with an 89, and Titus Epp had a nice day with a 91 finishing 28th. A young squad that continues to improve for Alma.

Bertrand was led by JC Kehr and his 10th place finish. He shot an 82 and was solid. Payton Way was the next high scorer as he finished 25th with a 90. Bertrand finished 7th with a 361. This team has a chance to be sneaky good as a handful of their golfers broke 100 in the meet.

Cambridge of course finished 8th as a team with a 361. No medalists, but Micah Gerlach shot a personal best and was just outside of medal contention with an 87, finishing 18th. Maverick Webb had a nice day too, finishing 32nd, but a solid 93. Brohedy Wood finished 35th with a 94. Cambridge will always be in the mix for some medals this season.

Arapahoe took 9th with a 387. Rafe Hill led Arapahoe with a 94, finishing 34th. Chris Hermes ended up 40th with a 96. Both Eli Shafer and Briggs Hill shot 99's for 45th and 46th. A nice showing at their home meet for the Warriors.

Southwest finished 10th on the day with a 393. Houston Billeter finished 27th with a 90. Colton Sedlacek and Hunter Blume each shot a 94 and went 38th and 39th. Look for those three to apply pressure on the medal stand each time out.

Maywood-Hayes Center shot a 463 for 13th. They were led by Landon Littrel. He finished 50th with a 106. Hunter Koetter finished 58th with a 115. Based on the school calendar, this was their first meet of the year. As the season goes on, we'll see how this team and their scores improve.

Medicine Valley finished 14th with a 485. Last week on a windy day at Lakeside Golf Course, they shot a 517, so a nice improvement for them. Tyce Pate played well, a 92 and finished 29th. Kevin Batnam finished 61st with a 116.

Our next scheduled RPAC Rundown Featured Golf Event is next Tuesday, April 16th at Alma.
