Hitchcock County Girls and Boys Take Both Games Versus Sutherland

On Saturday evening, Hitchcock County played host to Sutherland for a girls and boys double-header. The home team was victorious in both games.
In the girls game, Hitchcock County used their size and press to create a big lead and sustain it, winning 56-34 over the Sailors. In the first quarter, both teams were knocking down shots at a solid rate. Hitchcock County ended up leading 17-9 after the first eight minutes. The Falcons made the gap bigger as the second quarter went on, but the Sailors made a late push before the half and were down by just nine going to halftime, 26-17.
Out of the break, Hitchcock County went on an 11-0 run to go up 37-17. After the timeout from Sutherland, they regrouped and trimmed the deficit to 41-27 going to the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Hitchcock County outscored Sutherland 15-7 to secure the win.
We chatted with Kaiah Johnson of Hitchcock County after the game about the win.
For Sutherland, Mahala Vasquez led the way with 14 points. Payten Weber had 13 points.
Hitchcock County was led by Madysen Carlson with 25 points, Kaiah Johnson had 13 points, and Riley Hagan had 11.
Sutherland drops to 3-9 and will be at Medicine Valley on Tuesday before the RPAC Tournament.
Hitchcock County is now 5-7 and will be at Paxton on Tuesday before the RPAC Tournament.

In the boys game, the Falcons got up early and didn't look back, winning 51-19 over Sutherland.
Sutherland came out in the first couple of minutes knocking down shots, but the Falcons were too and after the opening quarter it was 19-8. In the next period, Hitchcock County shut out the Falcons, going on a 16-0 run to lead 35-8 at halftime.
In the third quarter, the scoring tapered for the Falcons, and Sutherland was getting good looks but just couldn't convert, and we went to the final period with it 44-11.
In the fourth, the Sailors were able to outscore the Falcons 8-7.
We chatted with Adam Kisker after the game about what has been working as of late.
Isaac Sinsel led Sutherland with eight points. Ethan Holm and Jackson Saner each had three.
Hitchcock County was led by 18 points by Adam Kisker and 15 points by Jack Baker. Jayce Hauxwell added six.
Sutherland, now 2-10, will be at Medicine Valley on Tuesday before conference tournament play. Hitchcock County is 10-2 and will be at Paxton on Tuesday before the conference tournament.
