Hitchcock County Hires Tyler Pool as Head Boys Basketball Coach

For the Falcons, they will have a new Head Coach for the Boys Basketball Team. Tyler Pool will now be in charge of the program, and he is thrilled for the opportunity. "First and foremost, I’m grateful to the Hitchcock Administration for believing in me to lead a group of young adults on the basketball court. I hope to have a great group of players, but even more important, an outstanding bunch of humans. We’re going to be learning basketball and life together."

Before coming to the area, Pool was a junior high Girls' Basketball Coach at Gem Prep School in Pocatello, Idaho. He helped the squad to their first-ever winning record. "I’ll be forever grateful to the Gem Prep community for making me realize how much I love the game of basketball," said Pool

Pool works for the Bureau of Reclamation, which is a Federal Government Job. He has ties to Nebraska, as he is a graduate from Grand Island Northwest.

Randall Rath, of course, was the Head Boys Basketball Coach and had a lot of success during his six years, including a 16-7 record this past season and a district final appearance. Pool recognizes what has been built at Hitchcock County. "Just a huge amount of gratitude to Coach Rath. His strength and conditioning makes a huge difference with the type of athletes that Hitchcock has. He’s put all the blocks in place to be successful."

He's also excited to have an incredible amount of experience coming back. "(We) Got a great group of seniors next year. Adam (Kisker), Jayce (Hauxwell), Jack (Baker), and Brayden (Melchert). Solid core to build around. We’re adding Grady Erickson from Maywood-Hayes Center, and that will be a solid addition to that group of seniors. (We) Have some good underclassmen that I’m excited to see what they can do. (I) hope that we put a product on the floor that the community will be proud of and want to come out and watch. Excited for this opportunity and looking forward to this season," added Pool.
