Hitchcock County Wins on the Road at Alma

On Friday, September 4, 2026, Alma hosted Hitchcock County in week two of the football season. We had a bit of a delay as rain and storms moved through the area. But at about 7:50 PM, we were able to get things kicked off.
About halfway through the first quarter, Hitchcock County got on the board first. On an 8-yard pass from Tekoa Hazlitt to Brody Hubl. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 8-0. The team traded possessions for the remainder of the quarter, and Hitchcock County went to the second leading 8-0. Both defenses were stout. It became a game of field position. At the 7:23 mark in the second quarter, Hitchcock County had a long touchdown run by Brody Hubl. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 16-0 at that point.
Alma countered with a touchdown of their own with 4:16 to go before halftime. It was Miles Ford who ran it in from a yard out. The two-point conversion was no good, and the score was 16-6.

Late in the quarter, Alma had an excellent drive just before halftime. It was a nine-play drive that started on their own 26-yard line. And it was capped off by a 7-yard touchdown pass by Drew Lewis to Miles Ford, and he toe-tapped one foot in while getting hit. The score was then 16-12 with 13 seconds to go before halftime.
Out of the half, Carter Propp was able to punch it in for the Falcons with 7:24 to go. 22-12 was the score after a long drive from the Falcons. The Cardinals were able to counter with a score of their own as Drew Lewis ran it in from 3 yards away.

The two-point conversion was good, and it was 22-20 with 5:45 to go in the third quarter. The Falcons, though, answered with a long 56-yard touchdown run by Tekoa Hazlett with 5:20 to go in the third period. The two-point conversion was good, and Hitchcock County extended their lead back to double digits, 30-20. With two minutes and 17 seconds to go, Tekoa Hazlitt rushed in for another touchdown to push the lead to 36-20 and close things out for the win.

Alma had 150 yards rushing and 32 yards passing. Drew Lewis had 70 yards on the ground and a touchdown. He also recorded a passing touchdown. Miles Ford had 53 yards and a score. West Bennett had 25 yards passing. Creighton Lynch had 27 yards receiving. Cooper Quinn had an interception
Alma is 1-1 and will face St. Cecilia on the road in Week 3.
Hitchcock County totaled 310 yards rushing and 47 yards passing. For the Falcons, Tekoa Hazlitt had a monster game with 170 yards rushing and two scores, and 53 yards passing and a touchdown. Brody Hubl had 69 yards rushing and 29 yards receiving and two total scores. Carter Propp had 62 yards rushing and one touchdown. Noah Caddick had an interception.
Th Falcons move to 2-0 and will play at home versus Arapahoe in Week 3.
