Nine RPAC Wrestlers Advance to Friday's Semifinals

On Thursday afternoon, the Class D wrestlers began their run for the gold. 26 RPAC wrestlers from 11 schools were represented at the 2026 Class D NSAA State Wrestling Tournament held at the CHI Health Center in Omaha. Nine advanced to the semifinals on Friday. Let's dive into the results.

At 106 pounds, Gavin Andrews of Arapahoe entered the tournament with a record of 29-11. Andrews lost his first match to Camden DeWispelare of Aquinas Catholic by a 3-1 decision. In the first round of the consolation brackets, Andrews received a bye, so he will wrestle again in the second round on Friday afternoon against Bryton Stalder of Southern Valley.


Also at 106 pounds was Bryton Stalder of Southern Valley, who started the tournament with a record of 32-5. Stalder won his first match over Tate Holmes of Franklin by fall in 1:37 to move on to the quarterfinals. In his quarterfinal match, Stalder fell to Jaydyn Schommer of Aquinas Catholic in 3:43. He will wrestle in the second round of the consolation matches against Gavin Andrews of Arapahoe.



Hayden Helms of Arapahoe started the tournament with a record of 31-10 at 120 pounds. Helms faced Emmett Kadavy of Aquinas Catholic and lost by a 10-3 decision. He will wrestle Friday afternoon in the first round consolations against Holden Beel of Ainsworth.


Connor Edwards of Hi-Line started the tournament with a record of 27-4 at 120 pounds. Edwards won his first match against Axton Lantz of Wisner-Pilger by fall in 0:48. In the quarterfinals, Edwards lost to Tate Wood of Fullerton by tech fall to move to the consolation matches on Friday afternoon, where he will face the winner of Hayden Helms of Arapahoe and Holden Beel of Ainsworth in the second round matches.

At 126 pounds, Ben Frame of Sutherland began the tournament with a record of 40-4. Frame defeated Silas Sedlacek of Southern by fall in 3:07 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals, Frame lost to Cash McKillip of Pleasanton by fall in 1:01. He will wrestle in the second round of the consolation matches against the winner of Landon Newton of Tri County Northeast and Cameron Fisher of Ravenna.


At 132 pounds, Drake Olesen of Bertrand started the tournament with a record of 33-16. Olesen fell in his first match against Bo Pettit Jr of Mullen in 1:45. He will wrestle in Friday afternoon's consolation match against Makayo Confer of High Plains.


Scotty Anderson of Sutherland started the tournament with a record of 43-5 at 138 pounds. Anderson defeated Kolby Nash of Weeping Water by fall in 3:01 to advance to the quarterfinals. In his quarterfinal match, Anderson defeated Andrew Henery of Neligh-Oakdale by a 10-3 decision. You could tell Anderson was on a mission Thursday as he wrestled at a high, high level. He will wrestle in the semifinals on Friday night against Drew Dawe of Burwell.


We got the opportunity to talk with Scotty after his quarterfinal match about how it feels to be headed to the semifinals. "It feels great. I mean, I have never made the semis before, I have always had to wrestle back, so it's a lot of weight lifted off of my shoulders," said Anderson.



Briggs Hill of Arapahoe entered the tournament with a perfect record of 48-0 at 144 pounds. In Hill's first match, he defeated Landon Scheidemann of Sutton by fall in 2:39 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinal match, Hill won by tech fall over Logan Lindsley of Shelby-Rising City, advancing to Friday's semifinals, where he will face Symon Kastl of Aquinas Catholic.


We chatted with Briggs after his quarterfinal match about how he needs to stay focused as he heads into the semifinals. "I like to weigh in, eat some oatmeal with honey to get some carbohydrates back. I will hang out, take some naps, and cheer on my teammates," said Hill.


At 150 pounds, Micah Gerlach of Cambridge entered the tournament with a record of 35-4. Gerlach fell to Jarrett Wells of Anselmo-Merna in 2:54. He will wrestle on Friday afternoon in the consolation matches against Grady Drueke of EPPJ.


At 150 pounds, Parker Schutz of Hi-Line entered the tournament with a record of 40-9. In his first match, Schutz defeated Emmet Grint of Twin Loup by fall in 3:50 to advance to the quarterfinals. In his quarterfinal match, Schutz wrestled really well and earned a 9-8 decision win over Landon Shoemaker of Central Valley. That win advanced him to the semifinals on Friday night, where he will face Cooper Arehart of Neleigh-Oakdale.


We caught up with Parker right after his match and got his initial reaction to heading to the finals. "It feels amazing. This has never happened before. I have been trying for four years. Every year I have fallen short, so it's really amazing to be in the semifinals finally," said Schutz.



Also at 150 pounds was Samuel Hare of Hitchcock County, who entered the tournament with a record of 18-20. Hare dropped his first match to Drake Troxel of Southern by fall in 1:09. He will wrestle in the first round consolation match against Cort Buss of Burwell.


Gage Rupp of Hi-Line entered the tournament with a record of 24-7 at 157 pounds. Rupp won his first match by fall in 4:35, wrestling really well in that one, over Logan Spotanski of Ravenna to advance to the quarterfinals. In his quarterfinal match against Kolton Thoene of Burwell, Rupp lost by major decision, 11-2. He will wrestle in the second round of the consolation matches on Friday afternoon against Ty Opfer of Hartington-Newcastle and Ky Cargill of Central Valley.


Cale Graham of Hitchcock County entered the tournament with a record of 19-15 at 157 pounds. Graham faced Koltan Idus of Southern and fell in 3:36 in his first match. He will wrestle in the first round of the consolation matches against Zachary Wiebelbaus of North Central.



At 165 pounds, Colton Perks of Cambridge entered the tournament with a record of 46-3. Perks defeated Tristan Steffen of GACC by fall in 3:01 to advance to the quarterfinals. He advanced to the semifinals on Friday night due to a medical forfeit. He will face William Pokorny of Central Valley.


We talked with Colton after his quarterfinal match about what he is looking forward to about his semifinal match. "I am really pumped for it. The kid is really good, but everyone is 0-0 now that we are in the postseason. I am really pumped for tomorrow night, though. I'm going to let it fly and compete," said Perks.

At 165 pounds, Dylan Kollmorgan of Hitchcock County entered the tournament with a record of 44-12. Kollmorgan faced a Hayden Lans of Southern Valley and fell in 2:26. He will wrestle in the first round of the consolation matches against Chance Swantek of Twin River.


Hayden Lans of Southern Valley entered the tournament with a record of 35-6 at 165 pounds. Lans won his first match over Dylan Kollmorgan of Hitchcock County by fall in 2:26 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinal match, Lans defeated Trentin Brown of Burwell by a 16-9 decision to move on to the semifinals. He will face Breckyn Collins of North Platte St. Pat's on Friday night.


We were able to talk with Hayden right after his quarterfinal match about what it took to secure the win and advance to the semifinals. "Super excited...I stayed in a good position...it's awesome" said Lans.

Colton Fote of Paxton entered the tournament with a record of 22-10 at 175 pounds. Fote fell to Dominick Larraga of Shelton in 3:45 in his first match. He will wrestle on Friday afternoon in the first round of the consolation matches against Jacob Motacek of Niobrara/Verdigre.



Also at 175 pounds, David Bryner of Wauneta-Palisade entered the tournament with a record of 43-3. Bryner defeated Jacob Jackson of Franklin by fall in 1:14 to advance to the quarterfinals. In his quarterfinal match, Bryner defeated Rocco Hageman of East Butler by fall in 5:51 to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinal match on Friday night, Bryner will face Cauy Meyer of Loomis.


Brayden Evans of Bertrand entered the tournament with a record of 19-7 at 190 pounds. Evans defeated Jared Perkins of Bayard by fall in 3:25 to advance to the quarterfinals. Kason Larson of Burwell defeated Evans by major decision, 16-4, in the quarterfinals. Evans will face the winner of Carsen Goes of Southern and Clay Schueth of Shelby-Rising City in the second round of the quarterfinals on Friday afternoon.


Trevor Manka of Maxwell entered the tournament with a record of 40-3 at 190 pounds. In his first match, Manka defeated Miles Kohmetscher of Kenesaw by techfall to move on to the quarterfinals. In his quarterfinal match, Manka defeated Logan Nelson of Wisner-Pilger by a 14-11 decision. He will advance to Friday's semifinals against Kason Larson of Burwell.

At 190 pounds, Kreyton Wiese entered the tournament with a record of 31-4. Weise defeated Carsen Goes of Southern by a 6-4 decision in his first match. In the quarterfinals, Wiese fell to Cope Smith of Amherst by fall in 5:33. He will wrestle on Friday afternoon in the second round of the consolation matches against the winner of Jared Perkins of Bayard and Carson Tomasek of Stanton.


At 215 pounds, Karson Shuler of Hitchcock County entered the tournament with a record of 46-3. Shuler won his first match of Gage Schuetz of Pawnee City by fall in 3:01 to advance to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals match, Shuler defeated Blake Bottorf of Twin Loup by fall in 1:24 to advance to the semifinals on Friday. He will face Coy Vrbka of Shelby Rising City.



Colt Gosnell of Maxwell entered the tournament with a record of 32-7 at 215 pounds. Gosnell lost his first match to Dalton Herley of St. Mary's by a 9-4 decision. He will wrestle in the first round of the consolation matches on Friday afternoon against Kyprin Colloer of Hartington-Newcastle


Trey Downey of Arapahoe entered the tournament with a record of 38-11 at 285 pounds. In his first match, Downey picked up a win over Nate Franzluebbers of Tri County Northeast by a 5-0 decision to advance to the quarterfinals. In his quarterfinal match against Caden Swanson of Loomis, Downey fell at 5:51. He will wrestle in the second round consolation match against Brent Schipporeit of Twin Loup and Kaleb Andel of Aquinas Catholic.

At 285 pounds, Jayden Loghry of Hitchcock County entered the tournament with a record of 38-8. Loghry defeated Kalen Andel of Aquinas Catholic by fall in 2:48 in his first match to move on to the quarterfinals. In his quarterfinal match, Loghry defeated Lance Stange of Creighton by fall in 3:20 to move on. He will face Levi Gall of Clarkson/Leigh in the semifinals on Friday night.


At 285 pounds, Keith Andersen of Sutherland entered the tournament with a record of 38-18. Andersen fell to Levi Gall of Clarkson/Leigh in 2:25. He will wrestle in the first round of the consolation matches against Dylan Layne of Pawnee City.
