Paxton Wins Big on Homecoming Night

The Paxton Tigers hosted Minatare on Friday evening for their homecoming game. Paxton came into the game with a record of 0-2, looking for their first win. Well, they captured that first win by dismantling Minatare by a final score of 56-6.
Paxton scored first with 8:09 to go in the first on an 11-yard touchdown run by Keegan Florom to make it 6-0. On the next defensive possession, the Tiger defense came up big with a safety, and it was 8-0 wth 7:06 remaining in the first.
After that, safety Keegan Florom had a 56-yard return on the free kick for a touchdown. All of a sudden, it was 15-0. Later in the first, Keegan Florom hit Maddex McConnell on a 57-yard pass for a score. It was 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
On the first play of the second quarter, McConnell blocked Minatare's punt, and Paxton had excellent starting field position on the Indians 15 15-yard line. Keegan Florom found McConnell again, this time on an eight-yard pass for the score, and it was 28-0 with 8:29 in the half. At the 5:12 mark, Paxton forced another safety, and it was 30-6.

Then, with 3:35 remaining in the half, Jesse Connick hit Keegan Florom for a 10-yard touchdown pass to advance the lead to 36-0.
Minatare attempted to gain some momentum as Izzy Lowery took the following kickoff 57 yards for a touchdown. It was 36-6. with 3:25 remaining in the first half. Just before the half, Paxton scored one more time on a 14-yard pass from Keegan Florom to Maddox McConnell. It was 42-6 at halftime.
In the second half, the Tigers closed the game out with two more scores. One on a 12-yard touchdown run from Connick in the third, and then Keegan Florom found Cale Potter on a nine-yard touchdown pass.

For Minatare, they had -76 yards rushing and 52 yards passing. Adan Perez was 2-10 passing with 52 yards. Izzy Lowery had 27 yards receiving, and Waryck Newlin had 25 yards receiving. Roberto Sanchez had an interception.
For Paxton, they recorded 195 yards rushing and 118 yards passing. Florom had 97 yards rushing. Connick had 65 yards and a touchdown. Also, Florom had 94 yards passing and six total touchdowns, three passing, one rushing, one receiving, and one kick return. Connick had 10 yards passing and a touchdown pass. McConnell had 91 yards receiving and three scores, and Potter had nine yards and a touchdown receiving, too.
On defense, Connick had two interceptions. Judah Griffith had eight tackles, and so did Keegan Florom.
Minatare has a bye before hosting Arthur County on September 25th.
Paxton has a bye and will next face Wauneta-Palisade on September 26th on the road.
