Before we discuss Southwest's game in the D6 semifinals, check out the Football Scoreboard brought to you by MNB Realty.
Southwest competed in the Class D6 Semifinal Game on Friday on the road in Red Cloud. Southwest is the #3 seed, and Red Cloud is the #2 seed. It was a beautiful night for football, especially for mid-November.

Southwest came out on top in the game by a final score of 35-0, and is heading to their first-ever state championship game. Now, of course, the area and communities that make up Southwest have some great history in Football. In 1991, Bartley won a title in Class D3, Republican Valley won one in 1982 in Class C1, and had a runner-up in 1977 in Class C2.

In this matchup against Red Cloud, Southwest totaled 211 yards passing and 134 yards rushing, and on the defensive side, pitching a shutout was an impressive feat by the Roughriders.

Note: At the time of writing this, official stats were not provided for Red Cloud.
For Southwest, Houston Billeter threw for 211 yards and two scores, he also added 40 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Jacob Barber had 68 yards rushing and 27 yards receiving. Damario Koetter had 25 yards rushing. Deric Kelley had 103 yards receiving and two touchdowns, Gage Hammond added 43 yards and a score, Braxten Hammond had 29 yards, and Conner Weaver had nine yards.

On the defensive side, Barber had an interception and seven tackles. Deric Kelley had six tackles, as did Gage and Braxten Hammond.
So, the stage is set, Southwest will play on Friday, November 21st, against #1 seed Garden County at 7:00 P.M. at Ron and Carol Cope Stadium. Garden County, obviously, is going to be an excellent opponent; they beat Stuart on Friday, 44-28. They run the ball effectively, over 300 yards per game. It should be an excellent battle on Friday night.
