RPAC Girls Basketball Results as of 2/25



District finals were played on Friday evening last week and we had five teams in total playing in Classes D1 and D2. Some seasons ended while others are going to be playing in the state tournament this week. Check out the blog to see how the teams did along with state tournament information and brackets.

Alma

Alma was the #11 seed in the D1-6 District Final and was taking on #6 McCool Junction for a chance to make school history by qualifying for the state tournament for the first time. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, you can read more about the game here.


Alma ends their season short of the state tournament with a 20-5 record.

Dundy County Stratton

Dundy County Stratton was the #15 seed in the D2-2 District Final where they battled #2 Falls City Sacred Heart.


The Tigers lost to Falls City Sacred Heart, 60-41, ending their season at 14-12.


Maywood-Hayes Center

The Wolves were the #9 seed in the D1-8 District Final and battled with #8 Elgin Public/Pope John and lost 51-44. Maywood-Hayes Center trailed the first half but made a run in the second half but wasn't able to get over the hump. They were led by Ellie Broz and Karissa Stengel each had 12 points while Broz added eight rebounds and Stengel added three rebounds.


Maywood-Hayes Center ends their season with a record of 21-3.


Paxton

Paxton was the #11 seed in the D2-6 District Final and took on #6 Leyton. The Tigers were ready for the Warriors as they jumped out to a 19-9 lead after the first quarter. Paxton kept their foot on the gas as they went to the half up, 39-26. It was a lot of the same story in the second half as Paxton was able to outscore Leyton in the third quarter 23-20 and 15-13 in the fourth quarter to punch their ticket to the state tournament with the 77-59 win.


The scoring for the Tigers was spread out as Ella Fote led Paxton with 22 points and five rebounds, Jacelyn Jorgensen had 19 points, 15 rebounds, and three assists, Abigale Nicholson had 17 points, and Emmalee Nicholson had 11 points and nine rebounds.


Paxton improves to 17-9 on the season and will be the #8 seed in Class D2 and will take on #1 Overton at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, February 28th at Pinnacle Bank Arena.




Southern Valley

In the D1-3 District Finals, the Eagles were the #3 seed hosted #14 Amherst and were able to lock up a trip to Lincoln with a 54-33 win. Southern Valley led from the jump as they had the first-quarter lead, 19-5. In the second quarter, each team put up eight points but after the half, things were rolling again as the Eagles outscored the Broncos, 16-13. As they went into the final quarter, Southern Valley finished off with an 11-7 quarter to secure the win. The Eagles forced 23 Amherst turnovers with 18 of those being steals.


Ann Bose led the scoring for the Eagles as she had 14 points, eight rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Brynn Baily added 12 points and five rebounds, and Adi Hunt had 11 points, five rebounds, three assists, and nine steals.


Southern Valley improves to 26-1 and will be the #3 seed in Class D1 and will face #6 Elgin Public/Pope John on Thursday, February 29th at 7:45 P.M. at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
