Alma is hosting Bertrand and Cambridge on Thursday, September 3rd, for a triangular. Let's check out the teams as they head into the triangular. Matches begin at 5:00 P.M. CT.

Alma

The Cardinals enter Thursday with a 2-2 record and are under a new head coach, Skyler Hellmuth.


Junior Vayden Epp leads the team with 2.9 kills per set and is hitting 0.138% thus far. Epp also leads the team in aces with six aces this season, averaging 0.6 aces per set. Senior Kamri Neal leads the team with 3.4 digs per set and has a total of 34 on the season, and Epp has 33 digs on the season, averaging 3.3 digs per set. The Cardinals are leaning on freshman setter Kenley Haussermann to lead their offense. She has stepped up and has posted 64 assists so far this season, averaging 6.4 assists per set.


Other returners from last season are senior Taylor Pool, junior Halee Neubauer, and sophomore Abbie Pool.


The Cardinals are in Class C2 and in Region 3 with Arcaida/Loup City, Centura, Doniphan-Trumbull, Elm Creek, H&H, Hastings St. Cecilia, Hi-Line, Kenesaw, Maxwell, Maywood-Hayes Center, Nebraska Christian, Ravenna, Sandy Creek, South Loup, Superior, and Sutton.

Bertrand

Bertrand heads into a pair of matches on Thursday with a record of 1-1.


The Vikings lost their setter to graduation and are returning a young core, but those youths gained lots of experience a season ago. This season, senior Livia Philips is leading the way with 3.3 kills per set. Freshman Jocelyn Hernandez is leading the team in hitting percentage, hitting at a 0.184 clip. Junior Baylee Kipp, who earned 3rd Team RPAC Rundown Libero Honors, is leading the team with 9.4 digs per set and 66 total digs. Sophomore Adlea Hock has stepped into the setter role for Bertrand and has 56 assists this season and is averaging 8.0 assists per set.


Other returners from last season are Adrian Sand and Alivia Rabe.


Bertrand is in the D2-7 subdistrict with Brady, Overton, SEM, and Wilcox-Hildreth.

Cambridge

The Trojans are 2-0 as they head into Thursday's Triangular.


They lost key pieces to graduation but have a solid group of freshmen and newcomers who will have an impact this season. Cambridge began their season on Tuesday, so no current stats had been uploaded at the time of writing this preview.

STATS ARE FROM FALL 2025

Returners from a season ago: three seniors. Brooklyn Holtze had 414 kills, averaging 4.1 kills per set while hitting 0.175%, 42 aces, 326 digs, and 380 assists; Joslyn Holtze had 204 kills, averaging 2.3 kills per set while hitting 0.184%, 30 aces, 42 blocks, and 269 digs; and Elisabeth Kubik who had 98 kills, hitting 0.141%, 30 aces, and 381 digs.


Junior Kate Salberg is also a returner from last season who appeared in 50 sets and had 79 digs.


Cambridge is in the D1-11 Subdistrict with Dundy County Stratton, Southwest, and Wauneta-Palisade.
