Hitchcock County comes into this game with a record of 1-0 after beating Bertrand in the opening week, 58-14. Hitchcock County has a number of new starters on the field, but their identity hasn't changed. They run the football and are known for their discipline.

In that opening-week win, they rushed for 264 yards, but also threw for 97 yards. They've shown they can do a little of both. This team will rely on athletes like juniors Brody Hubl, Tekoa Hazlitt, Cale Graham, senior Carter Propp, and many others. The backfield of Hubl, Hazlitt, and Propp combined for 243 yards rushing last week.
Now for Alma, they came away with a Week 1 win also. But it was much closer as they took down Arcadia/Loup City, 8-6. Coach Brendan Johnsen has a physical group of defenders, including seniors Crew Bennett, Grady Faimon, and juniors Banks Hammond and Cooper Quinn. Each had double-digit tackles, including 20 from Hammond.
