My goodness, friends. We have a big one on Friday evening, October 2nd. Southwest will play host to Wallace in a D6-5 District battle. This is one of those games that could look like a street fight, played on grass, as both squads are so, so physical. Also, both squads are 3-1 this season so this game is a really big one as the playoffs are a few weeks out.

Last season, this was an excellent game; Southwest won, 45-30.

ADVERTISEMENTS

For Wallace, they are 3-1, as previously mentioned. Their lone loss came to Garden County, the defending state champs. Most recently, though, they beat Paxton, 77-13. As a team, the Wildcats are averaging 68.5 passing yards per game and 299.3 rushing yards per contest. Senior Tyson Sullivan has been the Wildcats' go-to threat, with 572 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

The Wildcats got a boost, getting RPAC Rundown multiple-time honoree Ashtin Johns back recently, too. Sr. Ashtin Johns, So. Tobin Pelster, & Fr. Tatum Kelley have combined for 504 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.

QB and Sr. Colt Franklin is an excellent game manager for the Wildcats too. He has nine total touchdowns this season.

ADVERTISEMENTS

Now for Southwest, they are looking to bounce back after a 52-19 loss to Arthur County. The Roughriders average 18.3 passing yards per game and 273 rushing yards per game. Deric Kelley has led the attack with 493 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Sr. Jacob Barber has 231 rushing yards and four touchdowns. So. Conner Weaver has 236 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

On the defensive side, the Roughriders have a bunch of athletes who can make plays. Kelley has 31 tackles, So. Bo Truksa: 36 tackles; Sr. Gage Hammond: 32 tackles. Brody Hammond- 28 tackles.

This game has a ton of potential to be GREAT. I expect a physical battle, with the rushing attack being critical and whoever can make a couple of stops.
