The Southern Valley/Alma Saints began the season on a strong note. First, on Friday, they hosted Chadron. They won a close one, 7-6. The Saints built a big lead of 5-1 heading into the top of the 4th inning. Chadron answered with four runs to tie it 5-5. In the home half of the fourth inning, SVA scored a pair of runs and held Chadron to one run to secure the win.

For the Saints, Mikah Schultz was 1-2 with three RBI's. Jorja Hammond had two RBI's and was 1-2. Ava Dunse was 1-2 with an RBI. As a team, the Saints had seven hits and five errors too. Hammond went 3.0 innings, allowing four hits, one earned run, and had four strikeouts. Shultz went 3.2 innings, allowing four hits, no earned runs, and three strikeouts.
SVA then competed at the Lexington Tournament. They went 2-1, beating Alliance and HWY 6 and losing to Chadron.

In the win over Alliance, the Saints won 10-4. Alliance started out up 1-0. But the Saints scored two in the first inning, five in the second, two in the third, and one in the fifth to control the game.
Kaitlyn Bradley had a monster game, 3-3 at the dish with a pair of home runs and four RBI's. Ava Dunse was 4-4 with two RBI's, and Macy Johnson and Jorja Hammond each had RBI's too.

Chadron was the next opponent, and they dropped the game, 10-7. The Saints had a total of 14 hits, including another home run from Kaitlyn Bradley, and three RBI's. Mikah Shultz went 3-3, Jorja Hammond went 3-3 with two RBI's. Ava Dunse was 2-3 with an RBI.

Finally, SVA played HWY 6 and won 11-7. SVA set the tone with a 4-0 first inning and never looked back. Bradley had another big outing as she went 3-4 with two RBI's. Alexa Miller was 3-4 with three RBI's, Dunse was 3-3 with two RBI's, Schultz went 1-4 with an RBI, Johnson went 1-2 with an RBI, and Sydney Baker went 1-2 with an RBI. In the circle, Miller went 2.0 innings, allowing four hits and four earned runs; Hammond went 1.1 innings and allowed two hits and three earned runs; and Schultz went 0.2 innings, allowing no hits or runs.
The Saints start the season with a 3-1 record.
