The Southern Valley/Alma Saints began their season this past week, playing four games, including a home game and a tournament in Lexington.
First at home, they hosted Chadron in Stamford on Friday. The Saints dropped the game by a final of 10-7. Chadron jumped out to a 7-2 lead after three innings, but the Saints chipped away at the lead and made it 10-7 heading to the seventh inning. The Saints attempted to complete the comeback but couldn't get it done.
Chadron had 10 hits and three errors, Souther Valley/Alma had nine hits and five errors. Kaitlyn Bradley was 2-3 with an RBI, Ava Dunse was 2-4 with an RBI, Eden Johnson was 1-3 with an RBI, Amy Luke was 1-3 with an RBI, and Natalee Holste was 1-3 with an RBI.
Josa Dunse went two innings, allowing six earned runs; Mikah Schutz went 2.1 innings, allowing three earned runs; and Hayden Deyle went 2.2 innings, allowing zero runs.
Southern Valley/Alma, then went to Lexington for a tournament and played in three games.
They dropped a game against Scottsbluff in five innings, 11-1. The Saints hung around until the top of the third inning, it was 1-0 in favor of the Bearcats, then Scottsbluff scored six runs. Then Scottsbluff scored four in the top half of the fifth. SVA scored one run in the home half of the third.
SVA had six hits and four errors, and Scottsbluff had five hits and zero errors.
Macy Adams was 2-3 and had an RBI. Riley Aerni went 4.2 innings with five earned runs and six strikeouts. Josa Dunse went 0.1 innings and zero earned runs.
The SVA Saints bounced back nicely with a 21-0 win over Lexington. They won the game in three innings, scoring two in the first, nine in the second, and ten in the third. The Saints had 24 hits and zero errors. Lexington had one hit and three errors.
Have a game, Kaitlyn Bradley: 4-4, three home runs, and six RBI's. Ava Dunse went 4-4 with three RBI's, Macy Adams went 2-3 with two RBI's and a home run, Riley Aerni had a hit and an RBI, Josa Dunse went 3-4 with three RBI's, Eden Johnson went 2-3 with two RBI's, Hayden Deyle went 2-3 with two RBI's.
In the circle, Josa Dunse went three innings, allowed one hit, and had six strikeouts.
Then SVA played Gothernburg and fell 9-8. Gothenburg had seven hits and one error, SVA had 13 hits and five errors.
SVA was down 4-2 heading to the top of the 2nd, but a five-run inning from Gothenburg made it 9-2. SVA climbed back, scoring two in the bottom of the third and four in the fourth, but could not complete the comeback. Great effort.
Mikah Schultz went 3-3 two RBI's, Natalee Holstee was 1-3 with an RBI, Ava Dunse was 3-3 with an RBI, Macy Adams was 1-3 with an RBI, Amy Luke was 1-3 with an RBI.
Josa Dunse went 3.1 innings, no hits, two strikeouts, Mikah Schultz went one inning, four hits, three earned runs, Hayden Deyle, .2 innings, two earned runs.
The Saints are 1-3 and will play n the McCook Triangular on Monday, as their opponents will be McCook and Chase County, and then the SVA Triangular with Alliance and Gothenburg on Friday, and then the Holdrege Invite on Saturday.
