The Southern Valley/Alma Saints had a busy schedule this past week with five games, and they won two of them.
On Tuesday, they went to Lexington and won 19-4. Eden Johnson and Mikah Schultz each had a home run as Johnson went 2-3 with three RBI's and Schultz was 3-6 with six RBI's. In the circle, Riley Aerni went 5.1 innings, allowing five hits and had five strikeouts.
On Thursday, SVA went to Cozad and fell, 5-1. Kaitlyn Bradley had the lone RBI, and as a team, they had four hits. It was 0-0 until the home half of the third inning, and Cozad scored three to take control and maintain it. Aerni went four innings, allowing five hits, three earned runs, two walks, and five strikeouts. Josa Dunse went two innings, allowing one hit, two earned runs, four walks, and striking out two.
SVA competed at the Malcolm/Raymond Central Invite on Saturday. The Saints dropped a close one to Arlington, 5-4. SVA led 1-0 after the first inning, then Arlington scored two runs in the top of the second to make it 2-1. SVA, though, countered in the home half of the third, scoring three and leading 4-2. Arlington again answered, this time with three runs at the top of the fourth to go up 5-4 and get the win.
SVA had three hits, Macy Adams had a home run and three RBI's. Aerni went 3.2 innings, allowing five hits, three earned runs, and Josa Dunse went 2.2 innings, allowing two hits, a walk, and striking out one.
SVA played Raymond Central and fell, 8-2. The Saints were in a hole right away as Raymond Central scored three in the first, two in the second and third, and one in the fourth. SVA scored two in the bottom of the fourth. Raymond Central had 10 hits and two errors.
Schultz was 1-2 at the dish with two RBI's.
The win that SVA got at this invite came against Southern/Diller-Odell. The Saints won by a final of 13-4, and as a team, they totaled 17 hits. They started quickly with nine runs in the first, three in the second, and then one in the fourth.
Kaitlyn Bradley was 4-4 with four RBI's, a homerun, and a double. Alexa Miller was 1-3 with three RBI's. Hayden Deyle was 2-4 with two RBI's. Aerni went five innings, allowing six hits, four runs, but none were earned, and two strikeouts.
SVA is 6-8 and will play at Centura on Tuesday and at home against Hershey on Thursday.
