The Southern Valley/Alma Saints had a trio of games this past week and went 2-1. First, they went to Geneva to play Fillmore Central and dropped the game in a close one, 11-10. It was a back-and-forth game between the squads. Fillmore Central and SVA were tied 2-2 after one inning. Fillmore Central led 3-2 going into the top of the third. SVA then took a 4-3 lead, but Fillmore Central regained the lead at 5-4 going into the fourth inning.
Heading to the fifth inning, Fillmore Central led 9-5. SVA, though, kept fighting and eventually tied the game 10-10 heading to the home half of the seventh inning. Fillmore Central, though, scored a run in the final inning to win.
SVA had 11 hits and two errors. Fillmore Central had nine hits.
For SVA, Ava Dunse had two RBI's on 2-3 at the plate. Eden Johnson was 1-3 with two RBI's and a home run. Macy Adams was 2-3 with three RBI's, Hayley Deyle was 2-4 with an RBI. Mikah Schultz pitched 3.1 innings in relief for SVA. She gave up six hits and six runs, two earned, while striking out a pair of batters and had three walks.
SVA, though, bounced back in a big way with two wins against Chase County at home on Thursday.
In one game, they won 16-1. It took just two innings from the SVA Saints to score those 16 runs. In the first inning, they had five, and then in the second, they had 11. SVA had 12 hits and one error. Chase County had no hits and two errors.
In the circle, Mikah Schultz went 2.2 innings, allowing 0 runs, two walks, and four strikeouts. Kaitlyn Bradley had a home run, went 1-1 with four RBI's and two walks. Schultz had two RBI's on 2-2 at the dish. Faith Christensen was 1-1 with an RBI, Eden Johnson was 2-2 with four RBI's, Alexa Miller was 1-1 with two RBI's, and Josa Dunse was 1-1 with an RBI.
In their 13-0 win, they made quick work again, winning in three innings. They scored one in the first, seven in the second, and five in the third. SVA had 12 hits and no errors. Chase County had one hit and one error.
Bradley hit another home run, she was 2-2 with two RBI's, Hayley Deyle was 1-2 with two RBI's, Ava Dunse was 1-1 with an RBI, Schultz was 1-2 with an RBI, Johnson was 3-3 with three RBI's, and Riley Aerni was 1-2 with an RBI.
Aerni went three innings, allowing one hit and had six K's in the circle.
SVA is 4-5 and will be at Lexington on Tuesday, at Cozad on Thursday, and at the Malcolm/Raymond Central Invite on Saturday.
