RPAC, SWC, FKC, and LouPlatte Volleyball Players Compete in New West All-Star Classic

On Wednesday evening, the New West All-Star Classic took place for the volleyball side of things. On Thursday evening, there will be basketball games.


Wednesday night's matches featured battles between the Republican Plains Activities Conference and the Fort Kearney Conference, and the Southwest Conference versus the LouPlatte Conference. Those were the initial matches of the night. Then, the RPAC and the LouPlatte played one another in the consolation match, and the FKC and SWC battled in the championship match.




First, let's check out the rosters for the teams.

The first match of the afternoon was between RPAC and FKC. The FKC was able to win the match in three sets, 27-29, 25-13, and 25-19. Early on the teams were trading points with one another and the effort from the jump was great. In the first set, the teams went back and forth as you could see with the score being so tight. At 28-27, Atleigh Nelms of Southwest terminated to win the set.





In the second set, the FKC took control, jumping out to a 14-10 lead before the RPAC's coaching staff of Kim Barnett of Southwes and Katie Collins of Maywood-Hayes Center. The FKC, though, kept up their strong play and went on an 11-3 run to close out the second and win 25-13.


In the third set, the RPAC led 3-2, but the FKC was tough again and took the lead, then kept pushing.


In the next game, it was SWC versus the LouPlatte Conference. The SWC swept the match in two sets, 25-9 and 25-19.




In the consolation match, it was the RPAC versus the LouPlatte Conference.


The RPAC won in two sets, 25-17 and 25-20.


The RPAC did a nice job of getting out to a lead in the opening set, 16-11. They sustained that lead with some excellent defense and attacking.


In the second set, the LouPlatte Conference led 14-12. From there, the RPAC climbed back and took the lead at 17-16. They grew the lead to 20-17, and the LouPlatte had to take a timeout.




When it was 24-20, Kassidy Hatfield of Maywood-Hayes Center was toeing the service line and had an ace to close the match.


Remmi Stout of Medicine Valley was named the MVP of the consolation match.




The final match of the evening was the FKC versus the SWC. The SWC won in two sets 25-11 and 25-14. Makenna Starkey of Minden was the MVP.
