Hitchcock County

The Falcons as a team had a really nice tournament. They finished 5th with a 714. Jack Baker captured another state medal as he T-9th with a 167 for his two-day score. Brayden Melchert also took home another state medal as he placed T-13th with a 169. Mason Schilke closed out his golf career T-43rd with a 180. Cale Graham shot a 204 and finished T-88th. Dylan Kollmorgen finished T-92 with a 220.

Hi-Line

The Bulls finished 6th with a 721. Zach Whittaker was T-22nd with a 171, Hudson Weeder was T-41st with a 179, Parker Schutz finished 54th with a 185, and Gavin Tilson was T-55th with a 186. Karter Tilson did golf today for the Bulls; his score was 103 for the day. He did not have an individual placing since he played one day.

Sutherland

The Sailors competed hard too, finishing 13th with a 755. Grady Dempcy nabbed a medal for Sutherland, finishing T-9th with a 167. Ryker Copeland finished T-55th with a 186, Easton Smith was T-55th with a 186, Teagan Fitzpatrick was T-92nd with a 220, and Keaton Miller took 96th with a 232.

Cambridge

Micah Gerlach had an excellent day, finishing as the Runner-Up in Class D. Gerlach was behind by six strokes with four holes to play. He was chasing down Creighton's Calvin Wilmes. Wilmes bogeyed holes 15 and 16, then double bogeyed holes 17 and 18. Gerlach shot par on each of those holes. So, the golfers were tied up at 154 after 36 holes of golf, which meant it was time for a playoff.

Gerlach fought incredibly hard throughout the playoff holes, and matched shots with Wilmes. Including a crazy bunker shot on one knee to put himself in a good position to putt.

Wilmes though, was able to clinch the gold medal. It was an excellent display of golf from both competitors.

We chatted with Gerlach about his second-place finish. Interviews are brought to you by Acme Printing Company.

We have several interviews with RPAC Golfers who medaled, shared on Facebook. Be sure to check them out on our Facebook page here.

Many thanks to Acme Printing Company for sponsoring the interviews throughout the entire golf season!

Southwest

Houston Billter shot a 167 for his two-day score and ended with a T-9th place medal. It was a strong showing for him and his first state medal.

Dundy County Stratton

Dante Horner also came up with a T-9th place with a 169. Horner was solid once again playing good golf on a challenging course.

Bertrand

Quentin Mumm of Bertrand finished T-43rd. He shot a 180. Mumm had an excellent season and played strongly late this year.

Paxton

The Tigers had two golfers compete at state. Ethan Hardin finished T-46th with a 181. Tristen Hebblethwaite shot a 189 and finished 64th. Both competed hard at state.

Medicine Valley

Tyce Pate had a strong second day at state, shooting an 87, and in total he finished with a 181 and was T-46th.

Wallace

Tyson Sullivan had a solid round on day two with a 95. He ended his state tournament with a 198 and T-77th.

A Few Closing Thoughts

First, it was awesome to see all of these golfers battling on the course and competing hard. Quail Run is a tough, tough course, and these kids played well. We had a great time documenting it. Second. When Gerlach was in the playoff, a number of area teams stuck around and watched. Dundy County Stratton, Southwest, and Loomis, to name a few. It was awesome to see.

Congrats again to all of the athletes.
