Southern Valley Defeats Maxwell - Hunter Lans Has Monster Game
Southern Valley hosted Maxwell Friday night for homecoming. The Eagles and the Wildcats battled on the gridiron, and the final score was 66-30.

On Southern Valley's opening drive, they were able to march down the field and score. They put up a touchdown on a fourth-and-one when Houston Hunt hit Hayden Lans on an 11-yard pass. It was 6-0 with 9:47 to go in the first.
Following an excellent punt return, Maxwell had an opportunity to score as they were deep in Southern Valley territory. They had the ball at first and goal from the 3-yard line but couldn't convert, as the Eagle defense was tough.
Southern Valley was able to score again this time on a 52-yard pass from Houston Hunt to Hunter Lans. The two-point conversion failed, but it was 12-0 with 1:04 to go in the first quarter.
That was the score going into the second quarter
About halfway through the second quarter, Hunter Lans scored once again, this time on a 9-yard touchdown run on fourth and five. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 20-0 with 6:32 to go before halftime.
The Eagles scored again with 4:33 to go before halftime as Hunter Lans ran in from 40 yards out. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 28-0.
Maxwell answered with a score of their own. Tayton Phillips found Brison Brewer for a 50-yard touchdown pass. It was a nice screen-play setup, and they converted it well. It was 28-6 at that point.
Just before the half, Hunter Lans ran in for another 4-yard touchdown run. It was 36-6 at that point.

Out of the half, Southern Valley scored when Houston Hunt found Kyson Bose on a 4-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 44-6 with about 9:00 to go in the third quarter.
Maxwell answered with a score as Phillips ran it in from 65 yards away. With 8:16 to go, it was 44-12.
Well, then guess what? Hunter Lans scored again this time from 50 yards out on the ground. The two-point conversion was good, and it was 52-12 with 7:36 to go in the third.
With 6:45 to go in the third, Phillips found Griffin Flock for a 50-yard touchdown pass, and it was 52-18.
It was 52-18 heading into the final quarter.
The Eagles scored quickly after the fourth quarter began, as it was Hunter Lans this time from 23 yards out.
It was 58-24 after Griffin Flock took the next kickoff for a touchdown. The scoring just continued to go back and forth.
Hayden Lans was able to score from 6 yards out with 6:11 to go. After the two-point conversion, it was 66-24.
Maxwell scored again as Phillips rushed it in from 46 yards away for a touchdown.
STATS ARE UNOFFICIAL
For the Eagles, Southern Valley had 375 yards rushing and 140 yards passing.
Unofficially, Hunter Lans had 333 yards rushing and five touchdowns. This would tie the Eagles' 8-man school record for rushing yards in a game. Kody Collins had that many yards in 2023 versus Maxwell on September 7th. We will await an official number for Lans.
Lans added 79 yards receiving and a touchdown. Sully Banatam had 27 yards receiving; Kyson Bose and Hayden Lans each had a receiving touchdown. Hayden Lans also had 38 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Houston Hunt had an excellent game passing, as he accumulated 145 yards and three touchdowns.
Southern Valley is now 3-1 and will go to Axtell on 9/25.
Maxwell had 131 yards rushing and 102 yards passing. Tayton Phillips had 11 yards rushing and two touchdowns. He also had 102 yards passing and two touchdowns. Griffin Flock had 53 yards receiving and a touchdown, and Brison Brewer had 50 yards receiving and a touchdown.

Maxwell is now 1-3 and will play Sandhills Valley on 9/25
