VETERANS RETURNING TO HELP THE ROUGHRIDERS CONTINUE TO BUILD OFF OF 2022 CAMPAIGN
Tersen Arnold is in his 4th year as head coach for the Southwest Roughriders. The Southwest boy's squad finished in the top five teams at conference and they return a significant number of veterans so they look to continue off of their success last season.
Returning state qualifier in long jump is senior, Hunter Cunningham. Other returning letter winners are Austin Thompson, Cole Barnett, Kaden Day, Nathan Rippe, and Mitchell Stritt.
Southwest will begin their season with the Hi-Line Triangular on March 16th.
SOUTHWEST GIRL'S RETURN KEY VETERANS BUT ALSO BRING IN NEW FRESHMEN CONTRIBUTORS
Experience will be critical to this year's Southwest Track and Field Team on the girl's side. Head Coach Tersen Arnold said, "Our upperclassmen combine leadership and experience while our underclassmen will provide some good versatility and potential."
Returning state qualifiers are Caylin Barnett and Anastasia Gallegos. Other returning letter winners are Allison VanPelt, Avery McConville, Bryn Lampe, Kiana Martin, and Payton Truksa.
Promising newcomers for the Roughriders are Caitlyn Adams, Anikka Nelms, and Madelyn Tryon.
The Roughriders will open the season at the Hi-Line Triangular on March 16th.
SOUTHWEST GOLFERS RETURN EXPERIENCE
For the Southwest Golf Team, they will be looking for experience to lead the way. From golfers themselves to their coach, they will look to have experience pace this team. In his 22nd season as head coach between Twin Valley and Southwest, Don Ellicott says his team will look to improve throughout the season.
"We have three returning lettermen who should all improve from last year. We are hoping to improve both individual and team scores."
Colton Sedlack, Treven Critchfield, and Heath Koch return as letter winners. Sedlack medaled in a handful of events last year. The roughriders will start the season on March 28th in Cambridge.
