In the first couple of minutes of the opening quarter, you could tell there was a bit of a feeling-out process between the two teams. But Alma got their offense going as the quarter went on. Alma led 15-7 heading to the second.

The second quarter opened up with a nice lob pass from Creighton Lynch to Zavier Mitchell, and it was slammed home. Talk about making a statement to start the period. Alma led 20-7 at one point, but EMF cut the deficit to 20-13 with 3:33 to go before halftime. Alma maintained a 22-17 lead at the intermission.

The Bobcats countered with a big start in the third quarter, tying things up at 23-23. It looked like, for a moment, Alma was going to run away, but the Bobcats knocked down three three-pointers late in the third quarter to keep it close. Alma led 37-34 going to the final quarter

Early in the fourth quarter, the three-point shots were still falling for EMF. Keltyn Kirchhoff got a triple to give the Bobcats a two-point lead, 42-40, with about 5:45 in the fourth. The Bobcats used an effective 2-3 zone, making it very hard for the Cardinals to get clean looks. In the final seconds, EMF missed five straight free throws, giving the Cardinals a chance. Grady Bresson broke that streak by hitting a free-throw to give EMF a 50 to 46 lead with about seven seconds to go. That is how the game finished with EMF defeating Alma.
