The Wolves Sweep the Sailors Tuesday Night

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Sutherland hosted Maywood Hayes Center. This match previewed Thursday night's first-round matchup on the RPAC West side of the bracket as these two teams will play then too.

The Wolves started up 3-0, but a 5-0 run by Sutherland let the Sailors take the lead. MHC then took control, going up 10-7. The Wolves expanded their lead to 13-8 before Sutherland called a timeout. Sutherland got within three points a couple of times, but the Wolves extended their lead to 18-11 before the Sailors called another timeout. MHC finished the set strong, winning 25-18.

In the second set, the Wolves started strong, leading 6-2. They increased that lead to 8-2, then Sutherland called a timeout. Sutherland got it to two at one point, but the Wolves extended their lead back to 15-10. The Sailors took a timeout. Caylie Softley, Jillian Johnson, and Addison Richards were very tough at the net for Maywood-Hayes Center. They were making plays on both the offensive and defensive sides. The Wolves also won the second set, 25-15, and led the match 2-0.

In the third set, Sutherland started with a 4-0 lead. The sailors maintained that lead, 7-3. The Wolves went on a long run, up 11-8 in the third set. Sutherland had to take a timeout. The Wolves advanced their lead to 19-14. As Sutherland tried to climb back, they gave great effort. Sutherland took a time-out as they trailed 21-14 late in the match. MHC won the final set 25-14 and the match 3-0.

For Sutherland, Rylee Kerner had three kills and Drew Rotert had two aces.

For Maywood-Hayes Center, Caylie Softley had nine kills and six aces; Addison Richards had eight kills; Jillian Johnson had five kills and four aces; and Paytyn Stengel had two aces.

Maywood-Hayes Center is now 18-6 and Sutherland is 9-16. As we mentioned earlier, these two teams will meet on Thursday in the first round of the RPAC Volleyball Tournament. MHC is the #3 Seed and Sutherland is the #6 Seed in the West Division. They will play at 3:30 PM CT at Dundy County Stratton.
