It was another full week of football for RPAC teams. Also, it's time for teams to begin district play this upcoming week, so the games mean a little bit more. Let's give you a deeper dive into those results but before we do, let's check out the MNB Realty Weekly Scoreboard.
Alma
The tough opponents for Alma just keep coming, and as they approach district play, it doesn't get much easier. D1 this year is just really, really, tough. This past week they played one of the top teams in the state, Sandy Creek. The Cardinals fell in the game 71-14.
Alma will face another tough opponent, this week it is North Platte St. Pat's and we will see if they can play spoiler in this matchup. The game is in North Platte and kickoff is set for 7:00 P.M. CST The Cardinals are 0-3.
Arapahoe
Arapahoe is now 3-0 after another big win this time against Arcadia-Loup City. The Warriors had another offensive outburst and were tough on defense winning 52-7. Arapahoe scored 33 of those 52 in the first half. And for the defense, they did not allow a score until the fourth period.
For the Warriors, they had 0 passing yards, but 277 yards rushing. Will Cacy had 10 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Trenton Roskop had nine carries for 72 yards and a touchdown. Rounding out the nice rushing performances included Briggs Hill with 50 yards and a touchdown, and Grayson Koller had 25 yards and a score.
Arapahoe will be on the road this Friday, a Furnas County Rivalry as they will play Southern Valley. That is an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup with kickoff at 7:00 P.M. CST.
Bertrand
The Bertrand Vikings got their first win of the season. The Vikings went to Brady on Friday and won big, 66-18. This has to feel good for the Vikings after starting 0-2 and entering the season with some good momentum.
The Vikings are now 1-2 and will be at home this week with a matchup against Cambridge at 7:00 P.M. CST.
Cambridge
Cambridge went on the road to play a solid Axtell team Friday and they went home happy. The Trojans won over the Wildcats, 34-20. Axtell led 20-12 going to halftime. But a 22-0 second half from Cambridge led them to victory.
Tayten Koeppen had 102 yards rushing and a score. Jayden Ruf had 103 yards. Abram Norton carried the ball for 65 yards and a score. Norton was just 3-11 passing but all three completions were for touchdowns. Brady Ahlemeyer caught one for 25 yards. Hodge Raburn had a catch for a score from 14 yards and then Krayton Ruggles from 45 yards away and a score. Ruf had a total of 26 tackles, six solo and 20 assisted. Carter Hanes had one solo and 15 assisted for 16 total. Braydon Miller had two sacks and Colton Perks added one.
Cambridge is 2-1 and will play Bertrand on the road on Friday at 7:00 P.M. CST.
Dundy County Stratton & Sutherland
The Tigers and Sailors battled on Friday night as one of our RPAC Rundown Featured Matchups. DCS won 44-0. Read the full game story here.
DCS is top-10 rated in D1, 3-0 now, and will face Hi-Line at 6:30 P.M. MST for Homecoming. Sutherland is 0-3 and will try to get their first win of the season on Friday at Morrill at 7:00 P.M. CST.
Hi-Line
Hi-Line faced a tough Ravenna team and lost 54-6. It was 0-0 after the first, but a 30-point outburst from the Bluejays doomed the Bulls. Asher Hecox led the Bulls with 68 yards rushing, Brody Diefenbaugh had 41 yards and one touchdown.
On defense, Hecox led the Bulls with eight tackles. The Bulls could not contain Ravenna's Grady Rasmussen as he had 161 yards and three touchdowns rushing.
Hi-Line is now 0-3 and district play begins with a road game
Hitchcock County
The Falcons keep on winning. On Friday they played at Franklin and won 66-6. This team continues to play at a high level, and I expect them to keep playing well. They have some tough games coming up, including Overton this Friday.
That game will kick off at 7:00 P.M. CST and both teams are 3-0.
Maywood-Hayes Center & Maxwell
The Wolves and the Wildcats played last Thursday and it was MHC who won, 21-20 in a thriller. It was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup. Read the game story here.
MHC is 2-1 and will have to face a 3-0 Loomis team on Friday, on the road at 7:00 P.M. CST. Maxwell is 1-2 and will play Hyannis on Thursday at 7:00 P.M. CST. at home.
Medicine Valley
The Raiders went to Garden County on Thursday and fell 49-12. It was close at halftime, with the Eagles leading 21-12. But, a 28-point third quarter from Garden County sealed the deal. The Raiders are 0-2 will try to bounce back at home on Friday with a 3:00 P.M. kick-off versus Ansley-Litchfield.
Paxton
The Tigers faced Minatare on Thursday last week and won big, 65-0. They scored all 65 of those points in the first half to capture that big win. Joe Eakins led Paxton with 51 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. Tyler Markussen had 46 yards and two touchdowns. Wyatt Walker had a carry for a touchdown, and so did Parker Riesberg.
Colton Fote was all over the field with 10 tackles for Paxton. Tanner Hebblethwaite had an interception.
Paxton is now 2-1 and will have a bye before playing Wauneta-Palisade on 9/27 at home, at 6:30 P.M. MST.
Southern Valley
Southern Valley went to Sutton last week to face a solid Mustang squad. The Eagles dropped the game 81-6. They were just unable to keep up with Sutton in this one. On the ground, Sam Bantam led the Eagles with 48 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.
Defensively, Hayden Lans led Southern Valley with nine tackles. Raiden Rickert added five. The Eagles are 0-3, and will face top-10 rated Arapahoe on Friday. That one is an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup.
Southwest
Southwest hosted one of the top teams in Class D6, Arthur County. The Wolves started out with a 24-0 lead in the first quarter and it looked like they may run away with the game. Southwest answered with 22 points in the second, and at halftime they trailed 24-22.
The fourth quarter was the difference for Southwest as Arthur County scored 16 points, to the Roughriders' six. Houston Billeter had an excellent game with 278 yards passing and three touchdowns. He threw a pair of picks but nonetheless a great game. Trenton Williams had five carries for 82 yards and 108 yards receiving on 11 catches. Jacob Barber had four catches for 88 yards and two touchdowns.
Deric Kelley had five catches for 114 yards. On defense, Kelley and Billeter led the roughriders with ten tackles apiece
Southwest is now 2-1 and will be off until 9/27 when they go to Wallace for a 3:00 P.M. CST kickoff.
Wallace
Wallace improved their record to 2-1 as they won big Thursday over South Platte. That game was on the road for the Wildcats. Ashtin Johns had a nice game with 20 carries for 153 yards and three touchdowns. Ivan Aceves had eight carries for 61 yards and a touchdown. Ashtin Johns also had a touchdown pass and Conner Kennicutt was the recipient of that.
On defense, Masen Messersmith had 10 tackles, as did Johns. Aceves had seven. Wallace is 2-1 and will be hosting Southwest after their bye this week on 9/27. Kickoff for that game is 3:00 P.M. CST.
Wauneta-Palisade
Wauneta-Palisade had a monster win and they are now 2-1. They beat Banner County 66-0. The Broncos scored 48 of those points in the first quarter, and then they followed it up with a touchdown in each of the next three quarters.
The Broncos threw one pass from Nathan Blackman and it went to Aden Acton, a 35-yard touchdown pass. Casey Walker led Wauneta-Palisade on the ground with 145 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Kreyton Wiese had 48 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Konner McCrumb and David Bryner each had a rushing touchdown.
Ayden Baker led the Broncos with 10 tackles. They are now 2-1 and will be off until 9/27 at Paxton, at 6:30 P.M. CST.
