Maywood-Hayes Center hosted the Sutherland Sailors in Hayes Center on Tuesday night. It was the Wolves who took the 3-0 sweep over the Sailors.
Set one included good defense from both teams. The Wolves jumped out to a 6-2 lead and extended that lead to 12-5 to force a Sailor timeout. MHC kept their foot on the gas out of the timeout, but Sutherland did cut the lead to seven, trailing 14-7. The Wolves were the first to 20 and took set one with a score of 25-15 and a 1-0 lead.
In set two, the Wolves took an early lead and forced an early timeout from the Sailors at 4-1. MHC continued to create separation and forced another Sailor timeout at 16-9. The first to 20 again, the Wolves took set two, 25-12, and a 2-0 match lead.
In the third set, MHC took a 4-2 lead early and forced Sutherland to call a timeout at 8-2. Out of that timeout, the Wolves came out swinging and created some space and were the first to 20 with the score at 20-8. MHC took set three 25-12 and the match, 3-0.
