Alma Sweeps Team Titles at Hi-Line Invite Thursday

What started as a cold, breezy morning turned into a fantastic day for a track meet, with great performances. Elwood hosted the Hi-Line Track Invite on Thursday, which featured nine RPAC schools. Alma claimed the boys and girls championships, as well as the combined team championship. Check out the results in the blog!

In the 100-meter dash, Bristol Kubert of Hi-Line placed 4th with a time of 13.81, and Cali Santifer of Southern Valley placed 6th with a time of 13.99.


In the 200-meter dash, Kubert of Hi-Line placed 3rd with a personal best time of 28.22, Bentley Stubbs of Hi-Line placed 7th with a time of 29.26, and Emma Strand of Arapahoe placed 8th with a time of 30.11.


In the 400-meter dash, Kamryn Scott of Alma placed 1st with a time of 63.56, Santifer of Southern Valley placed 4th with a personal best time of 64.67, Suttyn Shafer of Arapahoe placed 5th with a time of 65.45 as a new personal best, Kurri Gosnell of Maxwell placed 6th with a time of 67.50, and Jensyn Weiss of Cambridge placed 7th with a time of 68.32.



The 800-meter run was very fast. Kinley Ford of Alma placed 1st with a personal best time of 2:27.85, Scott of Alma placed 2nd with a time of 2:30.03, Lydia McGowen of Cambridge placed 3rd with a time of 2:37.42, a new personal best, Ashlyn Wendell of Bertrand placed 4th with a personal best time of 2:39.14, Grace Andrews of Arapahoe placed 5th with a personal best time of 2:41.21, Addison Lozo of Southern Valley placed 7th with a time of 2:43.66 which was a new personal best, and Meg Hilker of Arapahoe placed 8th with a time of 2:51.16.


In the 1600-meter run, McGowen of Cambridge ran a really great race, placing 1st with a time of 5:39.40, just a few seconds shy of the school record, meet record, and set a new personal best time. Aysha Neal of Alma placed 2nd with a time of 6:11.55, Wendell of Bertrand placed 3rd with a personal best time of 6:13.36, Baylee Kipp of Bertrand placed 4th with a time of 6:18.90, Ashlynn Edgren of Bertrand had a new personal best time and placed 6th with a time of 6:22.83, Alaina Leising of Arapahoe placed 7th with a time of 6:23.57, and Olivia Wall of Hi-Line placed 8th with a time of 6:26.37.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Moore of Alma placed 2nd with a time of 49.25, Shafer of Arapahoe placed 3rd with a time of 52.21, Aspen Billeter of Southwest placed 5th with a time of 53.72, Oakley Stout of Medicine Valley placed 6th with a time of 54.26, Walkington of Southwest placed 7th with a time of 54.88, a new personal best, and Ruth Harris of Cambridge placed 8th with a time of 55.16.


In the 4x100-meter relay, Hi-Line placed 3rd with a time of 54.81, which was run by Schutz, Kubert, Raeltn Toberer, and Maryah Oberg; Southwest placed 4th with a time of 55.62, which was run by Walkington, Capri Sayer, Billeter, and Alyssa Koch; Arapahoe placed 5th with a time of 55.82, which was run by Chloe Gooden, Ruby McCune, Strand, and Shafer; Alma placed 7th with a time of 56.51, which was run by Vayden Epp, Mintzmyer, Frecks, and Kamri Neal; and Medicine Valley placed 8th with a time of 57.51, which was run by Zoe Trimble, Kamree Elsten, Delaney Evans, and Brooke Kotschwar.

In the 4x800-meter relay, Alma placed 1st with a time of 11:02.01, which was run by Ford, Neal, Pool, and Scott; Arapahoe placed 3rd with a time of 11:36.19, which was run by Hilker, Leising, Desi Farner, and Andrews; Cambridge placed 4th with a time of 11:50.41, which was run by Gunderson, Pena, Kate Salberg, and McGowen; Southern Valley placed 6th with a time of 12:09.34, which was run by Payton Adams, Becker, Lozo, and Hadleigh Wasenius; and Hi-Line placed 7th with a time of 12:11.05, which was run by Kara Brockman, Hailey Edwards, Klaire Pohl, and Wall.


In shot put, Elisabeth Kubik of Cambridge placed 1st with a throw of 32'1", Clara Hilker of Arapahoe placed 3rd with a throw of 30'3.75", Gracie Johns of Medicine Valley placed 4th with a personal best throw of 29'8.5", MadaLynn Benson of Cambridge placed 6th with a throw of 28'11", and Rylan Custard of Southwest placed 8th with a throw of 26'10.5".



In discus, it was a day of personal bests. Kylee Kubert of Hi-Line placed 5th with a personal best throw of 91'11", Taylor Pool of Alma had a new personal best by placing 6th with a throw of 90'5", and Kubik of Cambridge placed 8th with a throw of 87'0".


In high jump, Christensen of Maxwell placed 2nd with a new personal best jump of 4'11", Billeter of Southwest placed 3rd with a jump of 4'11", Lauren Quinn of Southern Valley and Weiss of Cambridge tied for 5th with jumps of 4'7", and Schutz of Hi-Line and Closman of Medicine Valley both had new personal bests to finish in a 5-way tie for 7th place with jumps of 4'7".


In pole vault, Koch of Southwest placed 2nd with a vault of 8'6", Santifer of Southern Valley had a personal best vault of 8'6" to place 3rd, Salberg of Cambridge also had a personal best vault of 8'0" to place 4th, Sand of Bertrand placed 5th with a vault of 8'0", Philips of Bertrand placed 6th with a vault of 7'6", and Quinn of Southern Valley, Becker of Southern Valley, Gooden of Arapahoe, and Trimble of Medicine Valley all tied for 7th with vaults of 7'0".


In long jump, B. Kubert of Hi-Line placed 2nd with a jump of 15'8.5", Brooklyn Holtze of Cambridge placed 4th with a personal best jump of 15'3", Epp of Alma placed 5th with a personal best jump of 15'1.5", J. Holtze of Cambridge placed 6th with a jump of 15'0.5", and Stout of Medicine Valley placed 8th with a jump of 14'10".


In triple jump, Epp of Alma placed 1st with a jump of 32'11.5", B. Holtze of Cambridge placed 2nd with a jump of 32'7.5", J. Holtze hit a new personal best with a jump of 31'4.25", Philips of Bertrand placed 6th with a jump of 30'5.25", Malia Brown of Bertrand placed 7th with a jump of 29'2.5", and Pohl of Hi-Line placed 8th with a personal best jump of 29'1.75".

In the 100-meter dash, Jahven Reyes of Maxwell took 1st with a time of 11.31, Kane Cochrane of Hi-Line placed 3rd with a time of 11.81, and Zavier Mitchell of Alma placed 4th with a time of 11.83.


In the 200-meter dash, Cochrane of Hi-Line placed 2nd with a personal best time of 23.83, Colt Gosnell of Maxwell placed 4th with a time of 24.64, Banks Hammond of Alma placed 5th with a time of 24.80, Mason Roblee of Medicine Valley placed 6th with a time of 24.97, and Henry Shoemaker of Cambridge placed 7th with a time of 25.11.


It was a quick 400-meter dash, with numerous personal bests set by the medalists. Eric Dicke of Alma placed 3rd with a new personal best time of 52.97, Isaiah Neal placed 4th with a time of 53.62, Brody Diefenbaugh of Hi-Line placed 6th with a personal best time of 54.12, Gage Rupp of Hi-Line placed 7th with a new personal best time of 54.73, and Hayden Sich of Arapahoe placed 8th with a time of 54.91.


In the 800-meter run, Kael Garrett of Medicine Valley placed 1st with a time of 2:07.32, Barrett Zikmund of Alma placed 2nd with a time of 2:10.49, Rigley McDonald of Arapahoe placed 4th with a personal best time of 2:13.33, Neal of Alma placed 5th with a time of 2:16.16, and Connor Edwards of Hi-Line placed 8th with a new personal best time of 2:16.99.


The 1600-meter run was a quick one, with nearly every medalist having a personal best time. Vaugh Fennel of Alma placed 4th with a new personal best of 5:03.37, Diego Rodriguez of Bertrand placed 5th with a personal best time of 5:04.64, and Nolan Pfeil of Alma placed 7th with a personal best time of 5:06.59.


It was a similar story for the 3200-meter run. Garrett of Medicine Valley placed 1st with a time of 10:39.38, Braden Sandfort of Cambridge placed 3rd with a time of 11:06.51, Rodriguez of Bertrand had a new personal best time of 11:15.85 and placed 5th, and Shya Gudaitis of Medicine Valley placed 8th with a time of 11:51.99.



In the 110-meter hurdles, Mitchell of Alma placed 1st with a time of 15.43, Traevyn Koch of Hi-Line placed 4th with a time of 16.87, and Chase Beitler of Hi-Line placed 5th with a time of 17.36.


In the 300-meter hurdles, Hayden Sich of Arapahoe placed 2nd with a new personal best time of 42.46, Beitler of Hi-Line placed 3rd with a time of 44.00, Koch of Hi-Line placed 5th with a time of 44.71, and Kellan Vinzant of Bertrand placed 7th with a personal best time of 45.87.


In the 4x100-meter relay, Hi-Line set a new meet record with a 1st-place time of 44.93, run by Justin Ervin, Diefenbaugh, Cooper Knackstedt, and Cochrane. Maxwell placed 3rd with a time of 46.77, which was run by Jagger Kleewein, Jahven Reyes, Gosnell, and Gavin Degarmo; Arapahoe placed 4th with a time of 47.23, which was run by Cian McCorkle, McDonald, Trey Downey, and Hayden Sich; Southwest placed 7th with a time of 48.86, which was run by Brody Hammond, Bo Truksa, Connor Weaver, and Gage Hammond; and Alma placed 8th with a time of 49.24, which was run by Zane Clark, Dicke, Hammond, and Tucker Peak.


In the 4x400-meter relay, Hi-Line placed 2nd with a time of 3:39.06, which was run by Koch, Diefenbaugh, Knackstedt, and Rupp; Alma placed 3rd with a time of 3:46.17, which was run by Clark, Dicke, Fennel, and Zikmund; Southern Valley placed 6th with a time of 3:53.03, which was run by Josiah Dowell, Isaac Hamilton, Hayden Lans, and Hunter Lans; Medicine Valley placed 7th with a time of 4:03.16, which was run by Roblee, Payton Newcomb, Dakota Douglass, and Bentley Campbell; and Arapahoe placed 8th with a time of 4:22.42, which was run by Houston Larson, Zachary Einspahr, Graham Sisson, and Hudson Sich.


In the 4x800-meter relay, Alma placed 1st with a time of 8:49.22, which was run by Fennel, Neal, Pfeil, and Zikmund; Arapahoe placed 5th with a time of 9:51.69, which was run by Hudson Sich, Larson, Sisson, and McDonald; Southern Valley placed 6th with a time of 10:07.91, which was run by Hamilton, Max Lanik, Bryton Stalder, and Carson Hamilton; and Maxwell placed 7th with a time of 10:11.63, which was run by Mason Rudd-Torres, Kycin Bane, Hunter Scheffer, and Cooper Nelson.


In shot put, Downey of Arapahoe placed 1st with a new personal best of 44'10.5", Brayden Evans of Bertrand placed 2nd with a personal best of 40'11", Ryan Maly of Alma placed 4th with a throw of 38'9", Jaysek Adams of Cambridge placed 6th with a throw of 37'7.75", and Caleb Neitzel of Maxwell placed 8th with a throw of 35'3.5".


In discus, Maly of Alma placed 1st with a toss of 124'11", Downey of Arapahoe had a personal best throw of 124'0" to take 2nd, Evans of Bertrand placed 3rd with a throw of 116'8", Weiss of Cambridge had a personal best throw of 112'10" to placed 4th, Neitzel of Maxwell placed 5th with a throw of 109'10", Ben Harris of Cambridge threw 109'0" tp place 7th, and Weaver of Southwest placed 8th with a personal best throw of 108'7".



In high jump, Dicke of Alma placed 2nd with a jump of 5'11", Cochrane of Hi-Line placed 3rd with a jump of 5'11", Kleewein of Maxwell placed 6th with a jump of 5'9 which was a new personal best, and I. Hamilton of Southern Valley tied for 7th with a jump of 5'9".


In pole vault, it was full of stiff competition. Isaac Hernandez of Bertrand placed 1st with a vault of 13'6" and nearly cleared 14'0" on two solid attempts. Knackstedt of Hi-Line placed 2nd with a vault of 13'0", G. Hammond of Southwest placed 3rd with a vault of 12'6", West Bennett of Alma placed 4th with a vault of 12'6", Kaden Klumpe of Cambridge placed 5th with a vault of 11'6", Hayden Lans of Southern Valley placed 6th with a vault of 11'6", and B. Hammond of Southwest tied for 7th with a vault of 11'0".

According to the school calendars, Arapahoe, Cambridge, and Southwest will attend the Dundy County Stratton Invite on April 7th. Southern Valley will attend the Wood River Invite on April 7th. Alma and Bertrand will attend the Axtell Invite on April 9th. Maxwell and Medicine Valley will attend the South Loup Invite on April 10th.
