Dundy County Stratton Hosts Track Invite Tuesday

What started as a chilly morning turned into a great day for track. Six RPAC teams competed on Tuesday at the Dundy County Stratton Invite. Several meet and school records fell, as there were many great performances. Check out the full recap below.

In the 100-meter dash, Molly Yearous of Wauneta-Palisade placed 1st with a personal best time of 13.60, Emma Baldeh of DCS placed 2nd with a time of 13.77, McKenna Doetker of Wauneta-Palisade placed 3rd with a time of 13.94, Lilah Baldeh of DCS placed 5th with a personal best time of 14.04, Addisyn Gunderson of Sutherland placed 6th with a time of 14.08, and Char Lutz of DCS placed 8th with a time of 14.54.
The 200-meter dash was scorching, with nearly every placer setting a new personal best. Doetker of Wauneta-Palisade took 1st with a personal best time of 28.36, Kamryn Fanning of Wauneta-Palisade placed 2nd with a personal best time of 28.41, Suttyn Shafer of Arapahoe had a personal best time of 28.83, Natalie Walker of Wauneta-Palisade placed 5th with a personal best time of 29.02, and L. Baldeh of DCS placed 8th with a personal best time of 29.51.
In the 400-meter dash, Abi Spargo of DCS placed 1st and broke the meet record with a personal best time of 56.10, which is the fastest time in the state among all classes by 2.5 seconds at the time of writing this. That time is also the 2nd-fastest in Class D history, behind her sister Clara (55.94). The previous record, before Clara broke it, was 57.67.
Jensyn Weiss of Cambridge placed 2nd with a time of 67.25, Walker of Wauneta-Palisade placed 3rd with a time of 67.83, Addalyn Einspahr of Wauneta-Palisade placed 4th with a time of 68.19, E. Baldeh of DCS placed 5th with a time of 70.45, Zoey Rogers of DCS placed 6th with a personal best time of 70.83, and Regina Pena of Cambridge placed 7th with a personal best time of 71.83.

In the 800-meter run, it came down to the final steps. Lydia McGowen of Cambridge outleaned Emily Schack of DCS to take 1st, as they shared the time of 2:32.73, a new personal best for McGowen. Andrea Almanza of Wauneta-Palisade placed 3rd with a time of 2:40.48, Meg Hilker of Arapahoe placed 5th with a time of 2:52.29, Alaina Leising of Arapahoe placed 6th with a time of 2:56.04, Tristin Fleharty of Sutherland placed 7th with a time of 2:59.32, and Kate Salberg of Cambridge placed 8th with a personal best time of 3:02.34.
In the 1600-meter run, McGowen placed 1st with a personal best time of 5:24.00. That time set a new meet record and broke the Cambridge school record of 5:35.6, set in 1992. Schack of DCS placed 3rd with a personal best time of 5:51.06, Annaly Ramirez of Wauneta-Palisade placed 4th with a time of 5:57.59, Hilker of Arapahoe placed 5th with a time of 6:26.66, Leising of Arapahoe placed 6th with a time of 6:31.88, and Briar Gunderson of Cambridge placed 7th with a time of 7:04.46.
In the 3200-meter run, McGowen of Cambridge placed 2nd with a time of 13:02.00, Ramirez of Wauneta-Palisade placed 3rd with a time of 13:24.55, Gunderson of Cambridge placed 4th with a time of 15:48.65, and Irmina Cramer of Cambridge placed 5th with a personal best time of 18:14.71.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Spargo of DCS placed 1st with a time of 15.83, Ellyana Walkington of Southwest placed 2nd with a time of 17.67, Emma Strand of Arapahoe placed 4th with a time of 18.59, Emma Acton of Wauneta-Palisade placed 6th with a time of 19.08, Ruth Harris of Cambridge placed 7th with a personal best time of 19.66, and Chloe Gooden of Arapahoe placed 8th with a time of 19.78.
In the 300-meter hurdles, Shafer of Arapahoe placed 2nd with a time of 50.36, Aspen Billeter of Southwest placed 3rd with a time of 51.65, Walkington of Southwest placed 4th with a personal best time of 54.61, Brooklyn Holtze of Cambridge placed 5th with a time of 54.79, Harris of Cambridge placed 6th with a time of 55.03, and Strand of Arapahoe placed 8th with a time of 55.30.

According to each school's calendar, Cambridge will host the Don Stine Invite on Saturday, with Arapahoe, Dundy County Stratton, Southwest, and Wauneta-Palisade all in attendance. Sutherland is off until they host their home invite on Friday, April 17th.
