RPAC All-Stars Compete in New All-Star Events on Wednesday and Thursday

On Wednesday, June 17th and 18th, the New West All-Star Volleyball and Basketball Games took place in Minden. These All-Star games benefit the Nebraska Kidney Association.
The LouPlatte and Southwest Conferences also participate in these All-Star Games.
For the Volleyball matches on Wednesday. The RPAC faced the FKC first.

The FKC took the first set against the RPAC, winning 25-15. The FKC kept things going, winning the second set 25-17. That meant that the RPAC would play the loser of the SWC and the LPC.
The LPC lost that matchup, so the RPAC faced them. The first set was a close one, 26-24. In the second set, it was another close one, this time the RPAC winning 26-24.
So we went to a third and decisive set for the consolation match. LPC won it by a final score of 15-13.

For the basketball matchups on Thursday, it was RPAC vs FKC with the girls game first and the boys game following. In the girls matchup, offense was hard to come by as neither team could get their offense going. A couple of layups and then a three by Anikka Nelms of Southwest allowed the RPAC to go up 8-2 with about 3:30 to go in the first quarter. They maintained that lead and were ahead 11-4 heading to the second quarter. The second quarter didn’t yield much more offense as the RPAC led at the intermission, 17-8.
In the third quarter, the teams traded buckets, and with a couple of minutes remaining, it was 25-17. The RPAC held the lead heading into the final quarter, 33-20. The RPAC began to create some distance in the final quarter, leading 39-24 with about 5:00 to go.

The RPAC did enough to hang onto the lead and get the win, 48-31. Mallory Springer of Cambridge was the MVP, scoring 14. Tierston Moore of Alma had 7, Anikka Nelms of Southwest had 8, and Ella Fote of Paxton had 7. For the FKC, SEM’s Taryn Arbuthnot had 12 points.
In the boys game, the first period, the teams traded buckets as the RPAC led 11-7 with 3:30 to go. The RPAC extended their lead, up 18-11 heading into the second quarter. The FKC took a timeout with 5:28 to go in the half as the RPAC led 26-12. The RPAC led at the half, 35-22. The FKC made an early push in the third quarter and trailed 37-30, forcing the RPAC to take a timeout.

The RPAC slowed the comeback a little by knocking down some timely buckets and led 48-36 heading into the final quarter.
The FKC made a nice run, and the score read 57-51. From there, the teams traded buckets, and with 2:00 to go, it was 62-55 with the RPAC leading. Overton’s Eli Luther hit a three with 1:26 to go, and it was 62-58 with the RPAC leading. Luther hit another three to make it 62-61 with 50 seconds to go. #12 from SEM made it 63-62, and then Brady Ahlemeyer made a layup to make it 64-63. FKC pushed the ball up the floor, and Elm Creek’s Quin Oberg hit a reverse layup at the buzzer to win it, 65-64.
For the FKC, Oberg was the MVP and had 21 points. For the RPAC, Houston Billeter of Southwest led the way as he scored 16 points. Brody Diefenbaugh of Hi-Line scored 8 points, Adam Kisker of Hitchcock County had 10, and Jayce Hauxwell of Hitchcock County scored 6.
