It was another full slate of games for RPAC squads as they wrapped up the second week. this season. Let's take a look at this week's results
Alma
The Alma Cardinals had a pair of games this past week, and kept to their winning ways in the early part of the season. Early in the week, the Cardinals played Blue Hill and dominated, 58-21. Isaiah Neal led the scoring for the Cardinals with 17 points and was efficient, 6-9 from the field. Of those six field goals, five were from three for Neal. Zavier Mitchell was just behind him, shooting 70% from the field and scoring 16 points. Tucker Biksup was dishing the ball with five assists.
The Cardinals followed up that matchup with a 56-27 win at Wilcox-Hildreth. The Cardinals are 4-0 and will play at home versus Southwest on Tuesday and then go to Cozad on Saturday.
Arapahoe
Last week, the Arapahoe Warriors played in the Cattle Trail Tournament in McCook. First, they faced Dundy County Stratton and lost by a final of 51-7. Aiden Roush had three points to lead Arapahoe. Hayden Sich collected 11 rebounds.
Next, the Warriors played Southwest and dropped the game 60-18. Hayden Sich totaled five points and 12 rebounds. In their final game of the Cattle Trail Tournament, Arapahoe faced Wauneta-Palisade. The Warriors dropped a close one, 33-25. Roush had 12 points and seven rebounds, Hayden Sick had a double-double wth 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Arapahoe is 0-4 and will go to Northern Valley, KS, on Tuesday, Wilcox-Hildreth on Thursday, and then host Southwest on Friday.
Bertrand
Bertrand played three games last week and went 2-1. First, they played at Elm Creek and dropped the game, 65-41. Quin Oberg was tough for Elm Creek, leading all scorers with 25 points. For Bertrand, Scottie Bieker had 20 points and 10 rebounds as well. Thunder Nelson added 12 points as well.
Bertrand bounced back in their next two games. First, they beat Pleasanton 66-61. For Bertrand, Thunder Nelson was effective with 32 points on 13-22 shooting. Bieker had 20 points again. Nelson totaled eight steals, and Bieker had 21 rebounds. So monster games from both of them.
Bertrand then faced Loomis on Saturday in a rivalry game and won 68-61. Bertrand shot it well from the field, 25-48. Three Vikings were in double figures as Thunder Nelson scored 19, Hunter Nelson had 13, and Scottie Bieker had 15 points and 15 rebounds. Payton Way added eight points and 12 rebounds.
Bertrand is 3-2 and will play Hi-Line on Tuesday and Blue Hill on Saturday, both at home.
Cambridge
Cambridge had two games this past week and went 1-1. First, they hosted Furnas County rival Southern Valley. Cambridge dropped the game by a final of 55-50. Cambridge was down 31-18 at halftime and clawed their way back, but could not complete the comeback. Hodge Raburn led Cambridge's offensive attack with 20 points. 10 of those games from the free throw line, where he went 10-12. He also snagged 12 rebounds. Turnovers were a problem for Cambridge as they had 23 total.
Cambridge bounced back, though, on Friday night and beat South Loup, 66-51. A big 24-point second quarter paced the Trojans. Cambridge is now 2-2 on the year, and before the Holiday break, they will be at Cozad on Thursday.
Dundy County Stratton
It was a successful second week of hoops season for Dundy County Stratton, as they played in the Cattle Trail Tourney and won the championship. First, they beat Arapahoe, 51-7. Ethan Latta had 11 points in the game, and August Shaw had nine points and six rebounds.
Following that victory, the Tigers faced Maywood-Hayes Center. The teams were tied up at 40-40 after three periods. But a 16-11 final stanza allowed DCS to get the win. Latta had 18, August Shaw had 16, and Cooper Shaw had 11. Cooper Shaw also added 10 rebounds and five steals.
On Saturday in the Championship Game, DCS faced Medicine Valley and won in a big way, 64-25. This week, DCS is 4-0 and will play at Wauneta-Palisade on Tuesday and at Perkins County on Friday.

Hitchcock County
The Falcons competed in the Cattle Trail Tournament in McCook last week. They opened the tourney with a win against Wauneta-Palisade, 60-14. The Falcons had a trio of players score in double figures: Jayce Huaxwell with 20, Adam Kisker with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Grady Erickson with 14 points and eight steals.
The Falcons then faced Medicine Valley and lost a close one, 60-59. The Falcons led 46-39 heading to the final quarter, but a 21-13 last eight minutes from Medicine Valley propelled them to a win.
After that, in the consolation game, for 3rd and 4th, they faced Maywood-Hayes Center. It took an overtime period, but Maywood-Hayes Center won the game 51-48.
The Falcons are now 1-3 and will be at Medicine Valley on Thursday and then host Rawlins County on Friday.

Hi-Line
The Bulls were scheduled to have three games this past week, but ended up with just two as Saturday's game against Gothenburg was postponed due to the weather. On Tuesday, they lost a nail-biter to Maxwell, 37-36. Following that, they played Southern Valley on Thursday and won a close one, 49-47.

Hi-Line is now 3-1 and will be at Bertrand on Tuesday, at Franklin on Thursday, and at Gibbon on Friday.
Maywood-Hayes Center
Maywood-Hayes Center competed in the Cattle Trail Tournament in McCook. First, they had a rematch with Southwest in the first round of the tourney. They took down the Roughriders 55-36. Keenan Richards of the Wolves scored 18 points and had eight rebounds. Charlie Callis had a good outing with 14 points as well.
In the next round of the tournament, the Wolves played against DCS, and these games are usually a battle when they face off. DCS was able to get the win, 56-51. Callis hit five three-pointers in the game and totaled 19 points. Kade Broz added 10 points for MHC. The Wolves had 28 turnovers in the game, too.
Hitchcock County was the next opponent in the 3rd and 4th place game. It was a tough one, as MHC won in overtime, 51-48. Three Wolves were in double-figures as Sawyer Dibbern had 11, Broz had 12, and Richards added 16. Richards also had 11 rebounds in the game.
MHC is 4-1 and will be at Sutherland on Tuesday and host Brady on Thursday.
Maxwell
The Wildcats played in a pair of games this week and split the matchups. First, they played against Hi-Line and won a close game, 37-36. Brison Brewer led the team in scoring with 12 points. Jesse Reyes totaled 11 points in the game. Reyes also had 13 rebounds in the game.
The Wildcats then played a solid, North Platte St. Pat's and fell, 78-42. Each year, St. Pat's is a tough team to beat, always a steady program. Reyes led the scoring again with 12 points on 4-7 shooting. Jordan Redden had four points and seven rebounds. Maxwell will look to bounce back this week, traveling to Loomis on Tuesday and then hosting Paxton on Friday. Maxwell is 1-3.
Medicine Valley
The Raiders competed in the Cattle Trail Tourney last week and made it to the title game. They began the tournament with a close win against Decatur Community, 47-45. Ethan Brown led the scoring with 15 points, Mason Roblee had 14, and Lucas Einspahr totaled 11. Brown grabbed eight rebounds, too.
The Raiders then won another close game, this time against Hitchcock County, 60-59. The Falcons led 46-39 heading to the final quarter, but a 21-13 last eight minutes from Medicine Valley propelled them to a win. The Raiders had two athletes with over 20 points: Brown had 26, and Lucas Einspahr had 21. Brown was 6-11 from three, and Einspahr was 6-10 from deep.
Medicine Valley faced DCS in the Cattle Trail Championship game and couldn't keep up, falling 64-25. Roblee scored 10 points in the game to lead Medicine Valley. Knocking down shots was tough for the Riders, as they shot 24% from the field.
Despite the loss, Medicine Valley continues to be a team to watch for, they have started the year pretty well.
Medicine Valley is 4-1 and will face Hitchcock County on Thursday at home and then go to South Loup on Friday.

Paxton
The Tigers had a pair of games and went 2-0 in week two. On Friday, they beat Brady by a final of 69-17, a dominant performance in the game. Four players were in double figures as Tristan Hebblethwaite and Keegan Florum had 11 points, and Maddex McConnell and Griffin Perlinger each had 10. Hebblethwaite had nine rebounds, too.
Paxton then faced Potter-Dix on Saturday and won by a final of 54-51. McConnell had a nice game, totalling 19 points and 11 rebounds. Hebblethwaite was excellent again with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists. Keegan Florom had 16 points, second on the team that night. Turnovers were a bit of an issue with 21 of them.
Paxton is 2-2 and will face Perkins County on Tuesday and then Maxwell. Both of these games are on the road.

Southern Valley
The Southern Valley Boys Basketball Team had three games last week and went 1-2. First, they beat Cambridge on Tuesday, 55-50. The Eagles hustled around the floor and forced 23 turnovers against Cambridge. Southern Valley had its own turnovers with 26. Isaac Hamlton had 15 points to lead the way, Hunter Lans had 12 points and seven boards, and Kyson Bose had 10 points for the Eagles.
Following that, they played Hi-Line on Thursday and lost a close one, 49-47. That was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup, so you can read the full game recap here. Isaac Hamilton eclipsed his 1,000th career point in this game.
On Saturday, Southern Valley played Overton at home and lost 66-35. Overton is a team with solid athletes. Isaac Hamilton led the scoring again, this time with 12 points. Tate Weatherwax added five points and six rebounds.
The Eagles will look to bounce back this week as they go to Norton on Tuesday, and then host Ravenna on Thursday and Loomis on Saturday.
Southwest
Southwest also competed in the Cattle Trail Tournament last week and went 1-2. Throughout the week, Houston Billeter got his 1,000th career point.
In the first round, they lost to Maywood-Hayes Center, 55-36. This was a rematch from earlier in the season, and Southwest lost that game, too. Billeter led the scoring for Southwest with 21 points.
Next, Southwest played Arapahoe and won by a large margin, 60-18. Billeter had 31 points and was 11-19 shooting from the field. Brody Hammond had a nice game with nine points for Southwest.
In their final game of the week, the 5th and 6th place game, they played Decatur Community. The Roughriders dropped the game 62-36. Hammond led the scoring for Southwest with 18 points. Southwest struggled to knock down shots in the game, shooting 23% from the field.
Southwest is 1-4 and will face Alma on the road on Tuesday and then go to Arapahoe on Thursday.
Sutherland
Last week, Sutherland had a pretty light week with a matchup against Sandhills Valley. It was a successful week for the Sailors, too, as they won by a final of 54-36. The Sailors were effective on offense in the first three quarters, scoring 16 points in each period to build a nice lead.
For Sutherland, Mason Mortimer had 17 points to lead the way and Jackson Saner had 12 points. Zayn Green had a nice game with nine points, 12 rebounds, and three steals. This team has a handful of players who contribute significantly.
Sutherland is 2-1 and will host Maywood-Hayes Center on Tuesday, go to Wallace on Thursday, and then Elba on Saturday before the Holiday Break.
Wallace
Wallace played in two games last week and won them both. First, on Thursday, it was a close game against Sandhills/Thedford, 49-44. The Wildcats were down 37-36 heading to the final quarter, and Wallace outscored the Knights 13-7 to get the win. Colt Franklin and Max Hanson were in double figures with 15 and 13 points.
Wallace kept things rolling by beating Hyannis, 58-33. Again, Franklin and Hanson were leading the team in scoring. Hanson had 18, and Franklin totaled 15 points, and he also added 12 rebounds. Tyson Sulliva had four points, rebounds, and assists. Micah Garrison had seven points.
It's no surprise to me that Wallace is a scrappy bunch, and they took care of the ball well against Hyannis with 10 turnovers. We'll see if they can keep things rolling. Wallace is 3-1 and will face Sutherland on Thursday at home and host Potter-Dix on Saturday.

Wauneta-Palisade
The Broncos battled in the Cattle Trail Tournament and captured their first win of the season during the week. First, they played against Hitchcock County and lost, 60-14. Ayden Baker finished with seven points to lead Wauneta-Palisade. The Broncos then attempted to bounce back against Decatur Community.
Wauneta-Palisade fell in that matchup, 78-31. Nathan Hiett led the Broncos with 11 points, and Aaden Wheeler had seven. Those two led the offense for Wauneta-Palisade.
In the 7th and 8th place game, they played Arapahoe. Both teams were searching for their first win. The Broncos got the win, 33-25. Hiett had 10 points to lead Wauneta-Palisade.
The Broncos have a record of 1-4 and will play at home versus Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday and then host South Platte on Friday.
