RPAC Boys Basketball Results as of 3/3

This past week and going into this week, RPAC teams battled to keep their seasons alive and qualify for the NSAA State Tournament running from March 12th-15th. Let's see how everything shook out.


NOTE: We will update the scores of Medicine Valley and Dundy County Stratton after their District Finals finish up.


Alma


Alma hosted the C2-9 Subdistrict this week as the #1 seed. First, they played Twin River, the #4 seed and won, 45-37 in overtime. Tucker Biskup had 18 points and eight rebounds. Zavier Mitchell had 14 points and 12 rebounds. Grady Faimon added 13 rebounds.


The Cardinals then played #3 seed Sandy Creek in the subdistrict title game. Alma fell in the matchup, 42-36. A 12-2 deficit in the first quarter was tough for Alma to recover from. They battled back but couldn't get the win. Biskup had 16 points.


The Cardinals then had to wait and see if they would get into a District Final. They did get in and on Saturday they played in the C2-2 District Final versus #2 seed Yutan on the road. Alma was the #15 seed. The Cardinals again played hard and gave themselves a chance, but lost 42-36.


Alma closes the season with a 22-4 record and an RPAC Championship.


Arapahoe


The Warriors played in the D1-12 Subdistrict Tournament. They were the #5 seed and opened against #4 seed Cambridge, played in Cambridge on February 24th. Cambridge won the game by a final of 57-43. Arapahoe led at the half, 26-23, but they couldn't hang on as Cambridge outscored the Warriors 34-17 in the second half.


Will Cacy had 13 points and 12 rebounds in the game. Grayson Koller added nine points and six boards.


Arapahoe ends the season with a 2-22 record.


Bertrand


The Vikings played in the D1-10 Subdistrict this past week and also the D1-8 District Final. The Vikings first played #3 Loomis and won 65-62. Bertrand trailed 49-44 heading to the fourth, but a flurry of scoring allowed the Vikings to take home the win. Marcus Hernandez had 23 points and Thunder Nelson had 22 points and 14 rebounds.


Bertrand then played #1 seed Elm Creek in the subdistrict title game and dropped the game 64-47. Nelson had 22 points and eight rebounds. Hernandez had 13 points.


Even with the loss, Bertrand was the #8 seed in D1 and played #9 seed Elmwood-Murdock on Saturday in Aurora. Bertrand lost the game 52-44. That was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup and you can read the game story here.


Bertrand ends the season at 20-7. This was Bertrand Head Coach Craig Newcomb's final game at the helm as he is retiring from coaching. Congrats to Newcomb on an excellent career.






Cambridge


Cambridge competed in the D1-12 Subdistrict Tournament last week as the #4 seed. First they hosted Arapahoe and won 57-43. Arapahoe led at the half, 26-23, but they couldn't hang on as Cambridge outscored the Warriors 34-17 in the second half. Brady Ahlemeyer had 23 points and Hodge Raburn had 17.


Cambridge then went to Dundy County Stratton and lost 68-32. Raburn had 13 points and Krayton Ruggles had 11. Cambridge ends the season at 11-12.





Dundy County Stratton


The Tigers had a big week. They hosted the D1-12 Subdistrict Tournament and ... First they beat Cambridge, as the Tigers were the #1 seed and Cambridge the #4 seed. DCS won big 68-32. Lane Bybee had 25 points and eight rebounds, Ethan Latta had 16 points, and August Shaw had 11.


The Tigers then played Hitchcock County, the #2 seed and a team they fell to earlier this season. DCS won, 56-43. Bybee had 18 points on 9-11 shooting, Latta had 18 points on 6-10 shooting, and Shaw had 10 points.


DCS then played in the D1-7 District Final against East Butler. DCS was the #7 seed and East Butler was the #10 seed. DCS won the nail-biter 54-50.


DCS qualifies for State for the fourth straigt year. They are the #7 seed and will play #2 seed Howells-Dodge on Wednesday, March 12th at 6:00 P.M. CT at the Bob Devaney Sports Center

Hi-Line


The Bulls played in the C2-7 Subdistrict Tournament this past week at GICC as the #4 seed. They played Heartland the #5 seed and lost 51-25. Dawson Ruda led the team with nine points. Hi-Line ends the year with a record of 8-15.


Hitchcock County


Hitchcock County competed as the #2 seed in the D1-12 Subdistrict Tournament in Benkleman. First, they played #3 seed Maywood-Hayes Center and won 47-36. Following that game, they played #1 seed Dundy County Stratton, a team they beat earlier this season. The Falcons dropped the game, 56-43.


Hitchcock County got a wild card to play in a District Final and they got into a matchup versus Elm Creek. The Falcons fell in a close one 56-52. This was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup and you can read the full game story here.


Maxwell


Maxwell played in the D2-8 Subdistrict Tournament as the #3 seed. They played #2 seed Southwest and lost 60-46. Jesse Reyes had 16 points and nine rebounds. Joaquin Vega had 15 points and eight rebounds.


Maxwell ends the season at 5-18.





Maywood-Hayes Center


The Wolves competed in the D1-12 Subdistrict Tournament as the #3 seed. They played Hitchcock County in the first round and lost 47-36. MHC ends the 2024-2025 campaign with a record of 15-10.


Medicine Valley


Medicine Valley was the #1 seed in the D2-8 Subdistrict Tournament in Curtis. First, they played #4 seed Brady and won 60-36. Brody Senff had 14 points. and 16 rebounds. Tyce Pate had 13 points and Ethan Brown had 10 points.


Then the Raiders beat Southwest in the D2-8 Subdistrict District Title game, 66-55. Mason Roblee had 16 points and eight rebounds, Lucas Einspahr had 15 points, Ethan Brown had 11 points and nine rebounds, and Brody Senff had 11 points and eight rebounds.


Medicine Valley played on Wednesday evening in the D2-2 District Final at Kearney Catholic. The Raiders were the #15 seed playing #2 seed Archangles Catholic. The Raiders dropped the game 52-32.


Medicine Valley ends the season at 14-11.





Paxton


#2 seed Paxton played in the D1-11 Subdistrict Tournament hosted by St. Pat's. First, they played #3 seed Sandhills Valley and won a close game, 32-31. Maddex McConnell had nine points and Jasper Brewster had six.


Paxton then played #1 seed St. Pat's and lost 72-49. Wyatt Walker had 12 points, McConnell had 10, and Tanner Hebblethwaite had 10. Tanner had nine rebounds too.


Paxton finishes the season 15-9.


Southern Valley


The Eagles played in the D1-10 Subdistrict Tournament as the #5 seed. They played #4 seed Overton and lost 63-47. The Eagles were down 32-18 at the half, but hung around for the rest of the game. Isaac Hamilton had 30 points, three rebounds, and three steals.


Southern Valley finishes the year at 4-20.


Southwest


Southwest was the #2 seed on the D2-8 Subdistrict Tournament. First, they played #3 seed Maxwell and won 60-46. Houston Billeter had 24 points and 13 rebounds Deric Kelley had 19 points and 15 rebounds.


Southwest then played #1 seed Medicine Valley and lost 66-55. Billeter had 17 points and 13 rebounds. Jacob Barber had 11 points and Trenton Williams had 14.


Southwest ends the season at 10-13.






Sutherland


Sutherland played in the D1-11 Subdistrict Tournament. The Sailors were the #4 seed and played #1 seed St. Pat's. They fell in the game 66-37. Ethan Holm and Mason Martimer had eight, and Jackson Saner scored six.


Sutherland closes out the season at 2-18.


Wallace


The Wildcats played in the D2-10 Subdistrict Tournament and won their first game, and dropped their second. First #1 seed Wallace beat #5 Wauneta-Palisade 61-37. They followed that game with a matchup against #2 Garden County and lost 57-56.


Wallace ends the season at 16-11


Wauneta-Palisade


The Broncos played in the D2-10 Subdistrict Tournament and went 1-1. They were the #5 seed and first beat Creek Valley 38-34. Then, they played Wallace and lost 61-37.


The Broncos close the year at 5-19.
