The RPAC Boys Basketball Tournament began on Saturday with the host site on the West side being Dundy County Stratton and the East side being hosted by Alma. We start with the West side of the bracket.
#4 seeded Hitchcock County played #5 seeded Wallace to begin things for the boys. The Falcons took care of business as they beat Wallace 56-20. For Wallace, they were led by Trey Robertson and his six points in the matchup. Wallace will be off until Friday when they play in a consolation game against the winner of #6 seed Maxwell and #7 seed Wauneta-Palisade. Hitchcock County will battle against Maywood-Hayes Center, the #1 seed on Tuesday at 6:00 P.M. in Trenton.
#3 seeded Paxton took on Maxwell the #6 seed and won 49-30. Maxwell started strong, leading 15-9 after one period. Then the Tigers took over and outscored the Wildcats 40-15 to secure the win. Isaiah Fox was solid with 19 points and six rebounds. Maxwell will take on #7 seeded Wauneta-Palisade now in the consultation bracket on Tuesday at 4:15 P.M. in Trenton. Paxton moves on to play #2 seeded Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday at 7:45 P.M. in Trenton.
Hosting the first round, Dundy County Stratton, the #2 seed, played #7 seed Waneta-Palisade in the final game of the day. The Tigers won by a large margin, 71-38. The Broncos will now face #6 seed Maxwell on Tuesday at 4:15 P.M. in Trenton. The Tigers will take on #3 seed Paxton at Trenton on Tuesday at 7:45 P.M.
Now for the East side of things, the first boy's game was #3 seeded Arapahoe versus #6 seeded Southwest. The Warriors won by a large margin, 56-34. Zack Ryan led Southwest with 10 points in the game. Campbell Schutz led Arapahoe with 15 points. Southwest, will now play #7 seeded Medicine Valley on Tuesday, in Curtis at 4:15 P.M. Arapahoe, battles Cambridge, the #2 seed, on Tuesday at 7:45 P.M. in Curtis.
#2 seeded Cambridge battled a solid #7 seeded Medicine Valley team in the first round and won by a narrow margin, 43-39. Cambridge used a 17-1 run in the third quarter to get back into the game versus the Raiders, and eventually get the win. Carson Trompke led Cambridge with 17 points and four three-pointers. Medicine Valley will now play #6 seeded Southwest on Tuesday at Curtis at 4:15 P.M. Cambridge will play #3 seeded Arapahoe on Tuesday at Curtis, with tip-off at 7:45 P.M.
The final game of the night from Alma was #4 seeded Southern Valley versus #5 seeded Bertrand. The Vikings won big, 61-42. The Vikings outrebounded the Eagles 42-17 in the victory. Bertrand will now play #1 seed Alma on Tuesday at Curtis with game time at 6:00 P.M. The Raiders will now take on #6 seed Southwest at 4:15 P.M. from Curtis.
