RPAC Girls Basketball Results as of 1/4

Teams were busy as the break ended on Sunday, with holiday tournaments and several games. Check out the blog for the whole week's recap!

Alma


Alma had the week off and remains 7-1. The Cardinals will host Axtell on Monday, travel to Superior on Tuesday, host Norton, KS, on Friday, and play in the Nebraska Girls Showcase against Thayer Central on Saturday in Kearney.


Arapahoe


Arapahoe hosted the Bob Braithwait Holiday Tournament on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the Warriors faced Blue Hill. Arapahoe took the early lead as they led 20-11 after the first quarter. Throughout the rest of the game, the Bobcats stayed close, but the Warriors won 57-43. Clara Hilker had 22 points, 15 rebounds, and two steals; Suttyn Shafer had 16 points, three assists, and five steals; Emma Strand had six points, seven rebounds, and two assists; Ryleigh Tidyman had six points, four rebounds, and four steals; and Sawyer Shafer had five points, six rebounds, three assists, and 10 steals.


In the championship game on Tuesday, Arapahoe faced Southern Valley. The Warriors led 18-14 after the first quarter and 28-23 at the break. Arapahoe kept the pressure high in the second half to win 58-32. Suttyn Shafer had 21 points, five assists, and six steals; Hilker had 15 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and two blocks; Tidyman had seven points, 11 rebounds, and four steals; Sawyer Shafer had six points, two assists, and five steals; and Strand had five points, seven rebounds, and two assists.


Arapahoe improved to 7-2 and will host Maxwell on Tuesday, host Medicine Valley on Friday, and play in the Nebraska Girls Showcase on Saturday in Kearney against Mullen.

Bertrand


Bertrand played in the Elm Creek Holiday Tournament on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the Vikings faced Arcadia/Loup City. Bertrand was defeated by the Rebels, 34-21. Addison Andersen had six points, six rebounds, and five steals; Livia Philips had five points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals; and Ashlynn Edgren had four points, seven rebounds, and three steals.


On Tuesday, the Vikings faced Gibbon in the consolation game. Bertrand took the lead and slowly created some space to lead 17-8 at the half. The Vikings had to weather a surge from the Buffaloes at the end of the game to secure the 38-31 win. Andersen had 16 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and four steals; Philips had eight points, nine rebounds, two assists, and four steals; Adrian Sand had five points, four rebounds, and three steals; Baylee Kipp had four points; Edgren had three points and four rebounds; and Malia Brown had nine rebounds.


On Friday, Bertrand traveled to Wauneta-Palisade and lost to the Broncos, 71-45. Sand had 16 points and three rebounds; Andersen had 13 points, three rebounds, and three steals; Philips had 11 points, seven rebounds, and six steals; Edgren had five rebounds; and Adlea Hock had five rebounds and two steals.


The Vikings are 3-7 and will host Wilcox-Hildreth on Tuesday, Southern Valley on Thursday, and travel to South Loup on Saturday.


Cambridge


Cambridge played in the Loomis Holiday Tournament on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the Trojans faced the host, Loomis. Cambridge won, 41-39. Mallory Springer had 11 points, 14 rebounds, two steals, and six blocks; Joslyn Holtze had seven points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals; Aspen Webb had seven points, three rebounds, and two assists; Brooklyn Holtze had seven points and five rebounds; and Kolbryn Clason had five points, four rebounds, and three assists.


In the championship game on Tuesday against Centura, Cambridge trailed 16-11 after the first quarter and then gradually fell behind, losing 54-31. B. Holtze had 10 points, three assists, and five steals; Webb had eight points; J. Holtze had six points, five rebounds, and three assists; Springer had three points, six rebounds, and two assists; Clason had six rebounds and two assists; and Elisabeth Kubik had five rebounds.


On Friday, the Trojans hosted Maywood-Hayes Center. Cambridge trailed 27-18 at the half and lost 59-36. Springer had 15 points, six rebounds, and two steals; Webb had seven points and four rebounds; B. Holtze had seven points, three rebounds, three assists, and four steals; Kubik had seven rebounds and five steals; and Clason had three rebounds and two assists.


On Saturday, Cambridge traveled to Paxton, and this was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup. Cambridge defeated Paxton 57-52. Click here to read the full recap. B. Holtze had 18 points, five rebounds, and two assists; Springer had 16 points, 17 rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and five blocks; Kubik had nine points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals; J. Holtze had seven points, six rebounds, three assists, and three blocks; and Clason had four points, three rebounds, adn two steals.


Cambridge is now 6-3 and will travel to Southwest on Friday.



Dundy County Stratton


The Tigers played in the Axtell Holiday Tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday. Against Axtell, Dundy County Stratton dominated, winning 56-16. Clara Spargo had 19 points, three rebounds, five assists, and six steals; Abi Spargo had 13 points, nine rebounds, and three steals; Emily Schack had 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals; Kimberly Escobar had four rebounds; Lexi Yrkoski had four points, seven rebounds, and three steals; and Charli Shaw had five rebounds and two assists.


In the championship game on Wednesday, DCS faced Grand Island Lutheran. The Tigers jumped out early, taking a 41-14 lead at the half. They went on to defeat the Lightning 68-40. A. Spargo had 18 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and eight steals; C. Spargo had 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals; Schack had 14 points, 11 rebounds, and two steals; Lutz had 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals; and Escobar had six points, three rebounds, and six steals.


The Tigers improve to 8-0 and will host Chase County on Tuesday and Decatur Community, KS, on Thursday.

Hi-Line


The Bulls traveled to Lawrence-Nelson on Tuesday. Hi-Line took the 13-6 lead after the first quarter. They remained in the lead at halftime, but after the break, the Bulls fired on all cylinders to take the win, 52-29. Bentley Stubbs had 23 points, 10 rebounds, and six steals; Whitney Wall had 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, and five steals; Olivia Wall had 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists; Dynastee Redden had six rebounds; Shelby Jurjens had four rebounds and seven steals; and Kylee Kubert had five rebounds.


Hi-Line improves to 2-6 with the win and will host Maywood-Hayes Center on Tuesday and SEM on Thursday.


Hitchcock County


Hitchcock County played in the Brady Holiday Tournament on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, the Falcons played Brady. It was a close game between the two squads. Brady led 16-9 after the first quarter, but the Falcons cut the deficit to trail 27-23 at the half. The Falcons surged but came up short, 51-47. Kalissa Hagan had 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and six steals; Aspen Hazlitt had 12 points, three assists, and four steals; Madysen Carlson had eight points, nine rebounds, three assists, and four steals; and Asia Homma had six points and six rebounds.


On Saturday, the Falcons faced Cody-Kilgore in the consolation game. Hitchcock County took the lead from the jump and didn't let up, taking the 50-35 win. Hagan had 14 points, five rebounds, and three steals; Homma had 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals; Hazlitt had seven points, three rebounds, four assists, and four steals; Jayda Wood had four rebounds; and Carlson had 10 rebounds, five steals, and two blocks.


The Falcons are 3-5 and will travel to Southern Valley on Monday, travel to Southwest on Tuesday, and host Wauneta-Palisade on Friday.

Maxwell


Maxwell had the week off and remains 3-4. The Wildcats will travel to Arapahoe on Tuesday, Hershey on Friday, and will host Overton on Saturday.


Maywood-Hayes Center


Maywood-Hayes Center traveled to Cambridge on Friday. The Wolves took the lead early and held on to secure the 59-36 win. Caylie Softley had 21 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals; Blayklee Farr had 13 points, five rebounds, and two steals; Karissa Stengel had 11 points, four rebounds, nine assists, and 11 steals; Paytyn Stengel had seven points, eight rebounds, and five steals; and Addison Richards had four points and four rebounds.


On Saturday, the Wolves hosted Sandhills/Thedford. MHC led 18-16 after the first quarter and extended the lead to 39-27 at the break. After the break, the Wolves made some adjustments to pull away to win 75-48. K. Stengel had 23 points, four rebounds, 12 assists, and five steals; Softley had 21 points, two rebounds, four assists, and five steals; Farr had eight points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals; P. Stengel had six points, three assists, and three steals; and Richards had six points and four rebounds.


Maywood-Hayes Center is 10-1 and will travel to Hi-Line on Tuesday and host Paxton on Friday.


Medicine Valley


Medicine Valley had the week off and remains 1-7. The Raiders will host Wallace on Tuesday and travel to Arapahoe on Friday.

Paxton


On Saturday, Cambridge traveled to Paxton, and this was an RPAC Rundown Featured Matchup. Cambridge defeated Paxton 57-52. Click here to read the full recap.  Ella Fote had had 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals; Jaleigh Hansen had 15 points and three steals; Jakcee Mitchell had nine points and six rebounds; Reece Glinn had five points and eight rebounds; and Marlee Gleason had five points.


The Tigers are 6-3 and will host Leyton on Thursday and travel to Maywood-Hayes Center on Friday.



Southern Valley


Southern Valley played in the Bob Braithwait Holiday Tournament on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the Eagles faced Franklin and survived a close game as they won 37-35. Tori Bose had 13 points, 13 rebounds, two steals, and three blocks; Emercen Lovitt had 10 points and three steals; Lauren Quinn had four points, three rebounds, and two steals; and Mikah Schultz had five rebounds.


In Tuesday's championship game, Southern Valley faced Arapahoe. After the first quarter, the Eagles trailed 18-14. After that, the Eagles went cold, and the Warriors caught fire. Southern Valley lost to Arapahoe 58-32. Lovitt had 12 points and five rebounds; Quinn had eight points; Bpse had five points, eight rebounds, two assists, and three blocks; and Schultz had five rebounds.


On Saturday, Southern Valley traveled to Southwest. The Eagles led 12-11 after the first and extended the lead to 26-22 at the half. The Roughriders made adjustments to trail by one, 35-34, heading into the fourth. The Eagles ran out of gas, struggled to keep up with Southwest, and lost 56-49. Bose had 17 points and four rebounds; Lovitt had 16 points, six rebounds, and three steals; and Quinn had nine points, four rebounds, and two assists.


Southern Valley is 5-6 and will host Hitchcock County on Monday and travel to Bertrand on Thursday.


Southwest

Southwest traveled to Franklin on Friday and defeated the Flyers, 53-31. Aspen Billeter had 25 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, four steals, and two blocks; Kyra Nelms had 17 points and 12 rebounds; Anikka Nelms had seven points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals; and Caitlyn Adams had six rebounds.


On Saturday, the Roughriders hosted Southern Valley and mounted a second-half comeback to secure a 56-49 win. Billeter had 31 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and three steals; K. Nelms had 18 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks; and Adams had four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.


Southwest is 5-4 and will host Hitchcock County on Tuesday, Cambridge on Friday, and travel to Wauneta-Palisade on Saturday.


Sutherland


Sutherland traveled to Potter-Dix on Friday and defeated the Coyotes 59-29 to secure their third win in a row. Phoenix Brown had 22 points, 21 rebounds, three assists, 11 steals, and three blocks; Payten Weber had seven points; Eliana Dyer had five points; and Bryer Brown had five points.


Sutherland is now 3-4 and will travel to Hyannis on Tuesday, Creek Valley on Thursday, and host Sandhills/Thedford on Friday.

Wallace


Wallace played in the Loomis Holiday Tournament on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, the Wildcats faced Centura and lost 68-9. Stats have not yet been uploaded for this game. As soon as they are uploaded, we will update the blog.


In Tuesday's consolation game against Loomis, Wallace lost 53-19. Stats have not yet been uploaded for this game. As soon as they are uploaded, we will update the blog.


Wallace is 1-7 and will travel to Medicine Valley on Tuesday and host Arthur County on Friday.


Wauneta-Palisade


The Broncos played in the Wilcox-Hildreth Holiday Tournament on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Wauneta-Palisade played Giltner/Harvard. The Broncos trailed 24-16 at halftime and gained momentum in the second half, but the deficit was too large, and they lost 42-41. Kamryn Fanning had 17 points and three rebounds; Emma Acton had seven points and seven rebounds; Cheyenne Parrish had five points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals; Mesa Cox had four points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals; and Kaia Applegarth had four points and 11 rebounds.


In Tuesday's consolation game against Wilcox-Hildreth, the Bronos won 56-22. Parrish had 16 points, six rebounds, and four steals; Fanning had 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals; Applegarth had 10 points and six rebounds; Peyton Dyer had eight points and four rebounds; Lilly Dinnel had four points and four rebounds; Acton had four points, three rebounds, three assists, and four steals; and Cox had 10 rebounds, four assists, and two steals.


On Friday, Wauneta-Palisade hosted Bertrand and won 71-45. Acton had 23 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two blocks; Parrish had 18 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals; Fanning had 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals; Applegarth had eight points and 10 rebounds; Dinnel had six points and seven rebounds; and Cox had six points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and six steals.


Wauneta-Palisade is 5-4 and will host Cheylin, KS, on Tuesday, travel to Hitchcock County on Friday, and host Southwest on Saturday.
