On Thursday, August 27, 2026, we had our first coverage for the volleyball season. It featured a matchup between Wauneta-Palisade and Hitchcock County. In the first set, Wauneta-Palisade jumped out to a 12-4 lead. But Hitchcock County was able to climb back into it and get it within five at 15 to 10. We are back at it this week with High School Football action. We have three games this week, and our first one is on Friday, August 28th in Sutherland at 7:00 P.M. CT. We begin with the road team, Maywood-Hayes Center. They went 1-7 last season and will be under the direction of a new head coach, Thad Rathjen. Rathjen was an assistant last year. Volleyball season is back this week, and we start at Hitchcock County, which hosts Wauneta-Palisade on Thursday, August 27th, with JV action beginning at 5:00 PM CT and Varsity to follow. Wauneta-Palisade The Broncos finished last season with a 20-12 record, ending in the D1-2 District Final Match against Overton. They lost several key contributors to graduation but return key pieces from last season. It will be a puzzle to fit the right lineup together and see what works wi
