March 1st - March 7th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Abi Spargo - Dundy County Stratton
In the Tiger’s three games in the Class D2 State Tournament, Spargo had 12 points, nine rebounds, five steals, and three blocks in the win over Loomis; 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, three blocks, and five steals in the win over Archangels Catholic; and 22 points, 12 rebounds, and seven steals in the win over Wynot. DCS clinched its first-ever girls state basketball title.
February 22nd - February 28th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Caylie Softley - Maywood-Hayes Center
Softley had 25 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists while shooting 60% from the field in their district final win over Weeping Water to qualify for state for the first time since 2021.
Boys
Tucker Biskup - Alma
During his two subdistrict games and district final game, Biskup averaged 21 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, 3.0 assists per game, 3.0 assists per game, and shot 55% from the field.
February 15th - February 21st Athletes of the Week
Girls
Addison Arvdal - Sutherland
Arvdal placed 1st at 190 pounds in Class B at the NSAA Girls State Wrestling Tournament and finished her season with a perfect record of 43-0.
Madelyn Tryon - Southwest
Tryon placed 1st at 235 pounds at the NSAA Girls State Wrestling Tournament in Class B and finished her season with a record of 49-3.
Boys
Hayden Lans - Southern Valley
After spending most of the season at 157 pounds, Lans moved to 165 pounds for the postseason and finished as the Class D State Runner-up.
Houston Hunt - Southern Valley
Hunt set a new school record for 3s in a game with nine against Axtell on Friday. He finished with 27 points.
February 8th - February 14th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Aspen Billeter - Southwest
Billeter had 27 points, eight rebounds, three assists, five steals, and three blocks in the win over Wallace and 26 points and 22 rebounds in the win over Axtell.
Boys
Houston Billeter - Southwest
Billeter scored 35 points and had 10 rebounds against Wallace, and then against Axtell, he had 33 points and 14 rebounds. Billeter also surpassed the 1,500 career points mark.
Connor Edwards - Hi-Line
Edwards dominated his district, going 3-0 to clinch the D4 district champion title at 120 pounds and punch his ticket to state.
February 1st - February 7th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Addison Arvdal - Sutherland
Arvdal clinched her 100th career win at the B-4 District meet, which punched her ticket for state. She has a total of 98 pins and has an 80-match win streak. Her record for this season is 39-0.
Boys
Scottie Bieker - Bertrand
Bieker scored 42 points and had 19 rebounds while shooting 61% from the field as well as four blocks against Medicine Valley on Friday.
Scotty Anderson - Sutherland
Anderson picked up his 150th career win at the Southwest Invite. He went 3-0 on the day to place 1st at 138 pounds and improve his record to 39.5.
January 25th - January 31st Athletes of the Week
Girls
Kamryn Scott - Alma
Scott averaged 24 points, 3.6 rebounds, and three assists per game through three games last week as the Cardinals clinched their first-ever RPAC Championship.
Boys
Houston Billeter - Southwest
Billeter averaged 34.5 points and 12.5 rebounds last week in two games. In one of those games, he scored 40 points, a new school record for Southwest.
January 18th - January 24th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Hayley Serfontein - Southern Valley/Arapahoe
Serfontein had a solid week going 4-0 at the Thayer Central Invite last week and improved her record to 27-1.
Boys
Hitchcock County Wrestling Team
The Falcons won the RPAC Wrestling tournament on Saturday with 132.5 points which included two individual champions.
January 11th - January 17th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Sawyer Shafer - Arapahoe
In the win over Loomis, Shafer had 23 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals. In the win over Hi-Line, Shafer had a record-breaking night as she broke the school record for 3s in a game, making seven. She shot 50% from three, going 7-14. She finished the night with 31 points, four assists, and nine steals.
Boys
Tucker Biskup - Alma
In Alma's three wins last week, Biskup averaged 21.7 points per game and shot 59.7% from the field. He also became Alma's all-time leading scorer.
January 4th - January 10th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Aspen Billeter - Southwest
In the Roughriders three games last week, Billeter averaged 23.3 points per game and 12 rebounds per game.
Boys
Colton Perks - Cambridge
At the Amherst Invite last week, Perks had a solid tournament placing 1st at 165 pounds defeating each opponent by tech fall. Perks is now 23-1 on the year.
Houston Billeter - Southwest
In the Roughriders three games last week, Billeter averaged 30.7 points per game and 13 rebounds per game.
December 28th - January 3rd Athletes of the Week
Girls
Phoenix Brown - Sutherland
In the Sailors 59-29 win over Potter-Dix, Brown had a huge game having a triple-double with 22 points, 21 rebounds, 11 steals, three assists, and three blocks.
Boys
Briggs Hill - Arapahoe
Hill had a big week as he clinched his 100th career win and placing 1st at the Pleasanton Invite last week. Entering this week, Hill remains perfect on the year with a record of 21-0.
December 21st - December 27th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Kinley Ford - Alma
Ford had 16 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and 10 steals in Alma’s win against Medicine Valley, and 24 points, two rebounds, two assists, and four steals in the Cardinals loss to Holdrege.
Boys
Zavier Mitchell - Alma
Against Alma’s win over Medicine Valley, Mitchell had 18 points and 12 rebounds, and in the win over Holdrege, he had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
December 14th - December 20th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Addison Arvdal - Sutherland
Arvdal had a successful week as she placed 1st at the McCook Invite and 1st at the Cambridge Invite to improve her record to 16-0.
Boys
Jayace Hauxwell & Adam Kisker - Hitchcock County
For Hitchcock County, both Hauxwell and Kisker had monster weeks. Hauxwell averaged 28 points and 10.5 rebounds and Kisker averaged 27 points and 15 rebounds. The Falcons won both of their games last week.
December 7th - December 13th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Clara Hilker - Arapahoe
During the Cattle Trail Tournament, Hilker had 10 points, 14 rebounds, three steals, and four blocks against Decatur Community; 12 points, nine rebounds, and four steals against Medicine Valley; and 20 points, 20 rebounds, and four steals against Wauneta-Palisade.
Boys
Scottie Bieker - Bertrand
Last week, in three games, Bieker had a dominant week, averaging 18.3 points per game, 15.3 rebounds per game, and shot 61.3% from the field.
November 30th - December 6th Athletes of the Week
Girls
Karissa Stengel - Maywood-Hayes Center
In the Wolves 86-46 win over Southwest on Saturday, Stengel had 34 points, four rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
Boys
Hodge Raburn - Cambridge
In the opening week of the season, Raburn averaged 21.5 points per game, shot 52% from the field, had eight rebounds, three steals, and 1.5 blocks.
