May 24th - May 30th Athletes of the Week

Boys

Jack Baker - Hitchcock County

Baker secured another medal at state, shooting a 152 and finishing 4th. Class D was held at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus. 


Houston Billeter - Southwest

Billeter earned another state medal as he shot a 157 and tied for 7th. Class D was held at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus. 


May 17th - May 23rd Athletes of the Week


Girls

Dundy County Stratton Track and Field Team

The DCS girls took the Class D State Champion Title for the 2nd consecutive year. The Tigers scored 70 points, 21 points ahead of the Runner-Up. 


Boys

Dundy County Stratton Track and Field Team

The DCS boys took the Class D State Champion Title for the 2nd consecutive year. The Tigers scored 75 points, 23 points ahead of the Runner-up. 


May 10th - May 16th Athletes of the Week


Girls

Lydia McGowen - Cambridge

Following the D-7 District on 5/13, McGowen qualified for state in 3 events. She qualified in the 800-meter run and placed 1st in both the 3200-meter run and 1600-meter run, and enters state with the fastest qualifying time in both those events.


Boys

Kael Garrett - Medicine Valley

Garrett took 1st in the 800-meter run, 1600-meter run, and 3200-meter run at the D-7 District on 5/13. He will look to repeat as champion in the 1600-meter run and enters state with the fastest qualifying time in that event.


May 3rd - May 9th Athletes of the Week


Girls

Abi Spargo- Dundy County Stratton

At the DCS Twilight on 5/8, Spargo bettered her own Class D State Record in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 43.85.


Boys

Scott Bieker - Bertrand

At the Knipping Invite on 5/7, Bieker placed 1st and shot a 69.


April 26th - May 2nd Athletes of the Week


Girls

Kennedy Bailey - Dundy County Stratton

At the RPAC Meet on 5/2, Bailey set new meet records in both shot put and discus. In the shot, she threw 46'3.75," and in the discus, she threw 146'2".


Boys

Jack Baker - Hitchcock County

Baker won his third straight RPAC golf title, shooting 75 at the RPAC meet on 5/1.


Brock Bailey - Dundy County Stratton

At the RPAC Track meet on 5/2, Bailey set new meet records in both shot put and discus. He threw 62'0.75" in shot put, and 171'4" in discus.


April 19th - April 25th Athletes of the Week


Girls

Kennedy Bailey - Dundy County Stratton

At the Don Bader Invite in Lexington on 4/24, Bailey set a new Class D State Record in discus with a throw of 159'11", pending certification from the NSAA.


Boys

Houston Billeter - Southwest

At the Southwest Invite on 4/23, Billeter shot a 71 to win the meet and break his previous school record.


April 12th - April 18th Athletes of the Week


Girls

Jaleigh Hansen - Paxton

At the Sutherland Invite on 4/16, Hansen placed 3rd in the 400-meter dash with a time of 64.64, was a member of the 2nd place 4x800-meter relay, and placed 3rd in pole vault with a vault of 9'0".


Boys

Ethan Latta - Dundy County Stratton

At the Sutherland Invite on 4/16, Latta placed 1st with the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.10, was a member of the 3rd place 4x100-meter relay, in high jump he placed 1st with a leap of 6'5", and placed 1st in long jump with a jump of 21'10.5".


April 5th - April 11th Athletes of the Week


Girls

Kennedy Bailey - Dundy County Stratton

Bailey took 1st in both the shot put and the discus at the Kansas State Relays in Manhattan, KS last week. She threw 45'2.5" in shot put, and 148'8" in discus.


Boys

Micah Gerlach - Cambridge

At the Hi-Line Invite on 4/7, Gerlach took 1st with a score of 74.


Houston Billeter - Southwest

At the DCS Invite on 4/7, Billeter took 1st shooting a new school record of 73.


March 29th - April 4th Athletes of the Week


Girls

Abi Spargo - Dundy County Stratton

At the Perkins County Invite on April 2nd, Spargo placed 1st in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 15.09. She set a new Class D State Record in the 300-meter hurdles, pending NSAA approval, with a personal-best time of 44.12 to place 1st.  Spargo was also a member of the 1st place 4x100 and the 2nd place 4x400. 


Boys

Jack Baker - Hitchcock County

At the Cambridge Invite on April 1st, Baker took 1st with a score of 77. Baker had to compete in two playoff holes after there was a four-way tie for 1st. 


March 22nd - March 28th Athletes of the Week


Girls

Bristol Kubert - Hi-Line

Kubert set 3 new school records at the Southern Valley Invite. She placed 2nd in the 100 with a new school record time of 13.62; placed 2nd in the 200-meter dash with a new school record time of 28.35; she placed 3rd in the 400-meter dash with a time of 68.75; and she took 1st in long jump and set a new school record with a jump of 15'10.5”. 


Boys

Brock Bailey - Dundy County Stratton

At the Southern Valley Invite, Bailey set a new Class D State Record, pending state approval, with a throw of 63'4.25" which earned him 1st place. He also took 1st place in discus with a throw of 167'10”. That state record didn’t last long as he broke it again at the Perkins County Invite on 4/2 with a throw of 63’10”.


March 15th - March 21st Athletes of the Week


Girls

Ava Messersmith- Maywood-Hayes Center

At the UNK Class B/C Indoor, Messermsith placed 3rd in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.29, 1st in the 400-meter dash with a time of 64.90, and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that placed 1st with a time of 4:23.69.


Boys

Jahven Reyes - Maxwell

At the Class D UNK Indoor, Reyes placed 1st in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.20 and 1st in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.06.
