2025 Spring Athletes of the Week

May 11th - May 17th

Girls

Abi Spargo - Dundy County Stratton

At the D7 District, Spargo placed 1st in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.12, 1st in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.14, 2nd in the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.28, and 1st in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 50.37. She qualified for state in all four events.


Boys

Kevin Garcia - Dundy County Stratton

At the D7 District, Garcia placed 1st in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.83, 1st in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.40, 1st in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 43.65, and 1st in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:30.42. He qualified for state in all four events.


May 4th - May 10th

Girls

Tierston Moore - Alma

At Best of the Midwest last Tuesday, Moore placed 1st in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.27, and placed 1st in the 300-meter hurdles with a new school record time of 46.40. At the Dale Harsin invite last Thursday, Moore placed 1st in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.24, placed 1st in the 300-meter hurdles breaking her school record with a time of 46.19, and was a member of the 2nd place 4x400-meter relay team with a time of 4:24.77. 


Boys

DCS Boys 4x100-Meter Relay

At the DCS Twilight Meet on Friday, the 4x100-meter relay team of Kevin Garcia, Blaine Aldridge, Ethan Latta, and Lakin Wissink broke their own Class D State Record, which is pending approval, with a new time of 42.57. 


Micah Gerlach - Cambridge

Gerlach shot a new personal best at the North Platte St. Pat’s Invite at Rivers Edge last Thursday with a score of 74 which placed him 1st.


April 28th - May 3rd

Girls

Clara Spargo - Dundy County Stratton

At the RPAC Invite on Friday, Spargo placed 2nd in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.25, 1st in the 200-meter dash with a new RPAC Meet Record time of 25.08, 1st in the 400-meter dash with a new RPAC Meet Record and State Record (pending approval) time of 55.94, and was a member of the 1st place 4x100-meter relay team that set a new RPAC Meet record with a time of 51.03. 


Ashley Robertson - Wallace

At the RPAC Invite on Friday, Robertson placed 1st in the 1600-meter run setting a new RPAC Meet Record with a time of 5:30.72, 1st in the 3200-meter run with a new RPAC Meet Record time of 11:49.97, and was a member of the 3rd place 4x800-meter relay team with a time of 10:43.63. 


Boys

Jack Baker - Hitchcock County

On Thursday, Baker was the RPAC Individual Champion at the Golf Invite. It is his second straight RPAC Title, he shot a 71 at Arrowhead Meadows Golf Course in Curtis. 


April 20th - April 26th

Girls

Clara Spargo - Dundy County Stratton

At the Chase County Invite on Tuesday, Spargo set a new Class D State Record, pending approval, in the 100-meter dash prelims with a time of 12.24. She placed 1st in the finals with a time of 12.30, and was a member of the 1st place 4x100-meter relay team with a time of 50.12. At the Don Bader Invite on Friday, Spargo placed 1st in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.97, was a member of the 2nd place 4x100-meter relay team with a time of 50.75, and the 3rd place 4x400-meter relay team with a time of 4:09.15.


Boys

Jack Baker - Hitchcock County

At the Perkins County Invite last Tuesday, Baker broke his own school record by shooting a 70 and taking 2nd place. Then on Thursday at the Southwest Invite, Jack shot a 76 and took 1st.


April 13th - April 19th Athletes of the Week

Girls

Kennedy Bailey - Dundy County Stratton

At the Kansas Relays, Bailey placed 2nd in shot put with a throw of 43'7.75" and placed 1st in discus with a throw of 145'9".


Boys

Brock Bailey - Dundy County Stratton

At the Kansas Relays, Bailey placed 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 58'8.5".


April 6th - April 12th Athletes of the Week

Girls

Clara Spargo - Dundy County Stratton

Spargo set a new state record, pending approval, in the Class D 200-meter dash with a time of 24.86, which placed her 2nd. She also placed 2nd in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.97, was a member of the 1st place 4x100-meter relay with a new meet record time of 50.05, and was a member of the 1st place 4x400-meter relay team with a new meet record time of 4:11.73.


Boys

Grady Dempcy - Sutherland

At the South Loup Invite last Friday, Dempcy shot a career-best with a score of 71 to take 1st. The Sailors took home the team title with a score of 336.


March 30th - April 5th Athletes of the Week

Girls

Shelby Schoene - Bertrand

At the Hi-Line Invite last Tuesday, Schoene placed 1st in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:05.26, 1st in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:35.66, 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.79, and tied for 2nd in pole vault with a vault of 8’10”.


Boys

Will Cacy - Arapahoe

At the Hi-Line Invite last Tuesday, Cacy took 1st and set a new meet and school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.20. He was also a member of the 1st place 4x4 relay team with a time of 3:43.13.


March 23rd - March 29th Athletes of the Week

Girls

Adi Hunt - Southern Valley

Hunt won all four of her events and broke two of her own school records at her home track invite last Friday. In the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.07 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.57. She also ran the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.73 and jumped 17'4" in long jump.


Boys

Marcus Hernandez - Bertrand

Hernandez set a new school record at the Southern Valley Invite last Friday with a vault of 14'9". He also placed 2nd in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:22.65, 1st in the 3200-meter run with a time of 12:47.73, and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:57.07.


March 16th - March 22nd Athletes of the Week

Girls

Ava Messersmith - Maywood-Hayes Center

At the Class D UNK Indoor Invite, Messersmith placed 1st in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.37, 1st in the 400-meter dash with a time of 63.26, and was a member of the 1st place 4x400-meter relay team with a time of 4:28.10. 


Boys

Kane Cochrane - Hi-Line

At the Trojan Relays, Cochrane broke his own CO-OP record in the high jump with a leap of 5’10”.
