Arapahoe Hosts Rivalry Matchup with Cambridge Tuesday Night

Arapahoe hosted Cambridge on Tuesday night. It was a rematch for the girls as Arapahoe took the first game during the RPAC tournament on January 26th, 58-37. It was a close one, but the Warrirors were able to hold on to secure the win, 47-41.
In the boys game, Cambridge defeated Arapahoe, 61-28.

For the girls matchup, Cambridge hit the first shot of the game with a three-pointer to take the early lead. The Warriors turned the ball over a couple of times, and the Trojans capitalized, taking an early 5-0 lead with 6:15 to go in the first. The Warriors responded after Sawyer Shafer hit a free throw and then a transition bucket to make the score 5-3, with 5:20 left in the quarter. The Trojans extended their lead to 10-5 with four minutes left in the quarter. Cambridge led after the first quarter, 12-10.

Starting the second quarter, the Warriors tied it up at 12 right away and then got a steal and a bucket to take the 14-12 lead with 6:32 left. Cambridge was able to tie it up less than a minute later, 14-14. Arapahoe was crashing the glass and winning the rebounding game, especially on offense. They extended their lead to 17-14 and forced Cambridge to call a timeout with 4:22 left in the half. Arapahoe started to knock down their outside shots to extend their lead to 20-14. Cambridge quickly responded with a three from Kolbrynn Clason to make the score 20-17 with 1:56 left in the first half. Arapahoe went on another little run to extend their lead to seven, 24-17, with under a minute remaining. The Warriors had a halftime lead of 26-17.
Cambridge hit a three right out of the half to cut down the deficit to 26-20. But the Warriors had an answer from outside to push their lead. The two squads traded baskets, but also traded turnovers. Arapahoe called a timeout with 3:51 left in the third and the 29-26 lead. The Trojans were able to tie it at 29-29 with 3:15 left in the quarter. Arapahoe came away with a steal to get an easy bucket and took the 31-29 lead and forced Cambridge to call a timeout with 2:58 left. At the end of the third quarter, Arapahoe led 33-30.
To start the final stanza, Cambridge took the first shot to pull within one, 33-32. Aspen Webb hit a three-pointer with 7:00 left in the quarter to take the 35-33 lead. After a pair of free throws for Sawyer Shafer, she tied the game back up at 35-35. Cambridge took the 37-35 lead with 6:15 left in the game. Arapahoe took the 38-37 lead with 5:00 minutes left in the game. Cambridge called a timeout with 4:49 left in the game, and the score remained 38-37 in favor of Arapahoe. Brooklyn Holtze hit a big three with 3:10 left in the game to take the lead and score 40-38. Ryleigh Tidyman hit a big corner three with 2:20 left in the game and tied the game at 41-41. Arapahoe called a timeout with 1:44 left in the game and the score tied. Arapahoe came away with a big steal and hit the go-ahead bucket, 43-41, with 1:07 left in the game. Cambridge was forced to foul, and Arapahoe hit four free throws to take the 47-41 lead. The Trojans called a timeout with 7.2 seconds left. Arapahoe held on for the 47-41 win.
For Cambridge, Mallory Springer had 13 points, and Aspen Webb had 11 points.
For Arapahoe, Suttyn Shafer had 22 points, Sawyer Shafer had 11 points, and Ryleigh Tidyman had nine points.
The Trojans are 16-5 and will host Alma on Friday.
The Warriors are 19-4 and will host Bertrand on Friday.

Now for the boys game.
At the start of the first quarter, Cambridge took an early lead and forced the Warriors into mistakes and turnovers. With 5:38 left in the quarter, the Trojans had a 9-0 lead. Arapahoe hit some free throws to make the score 9-2. Cambridge extended the lead to 13-2, and Arapahoe called a timeout with 4:06 left. With 3:13 left, the Warriors hit a layup to make the score 17-4. Braxton Miller hit a buzzer-beater three at the end of the first quarter to make the score 24-6.

The second quarter started similarly, with Cambridge finding their spots and forcing the Warriors to turn the ball over. Arapahoe called a timeout with 5:55 left in the first half with Cambridge leading, 32-8. Cambridge continued to apply pressure and extend their lead. The Warriors called a timeout with 3:32 left in the first half, and the score was 44-8 in favor of the Trojans. The Trojans extended the lead to 48-8 with 1:09 left in the first half. The halftime score was 48-11 in favor of the Trojans.
In the third quarter, Cambridge was able to rotate in some of their bench. The two were able to move up and down the floor and exchanged baskets. With 2:00 left in the third quarter, Cambridge extended the lead to 59-20. At the end of the quarter, Cambridge led, 59-23.
Arapahoe got the first bucket of the fourth quarter to make the score, 59-25. The two have traded trips up the court and rebounds off of missed shots. Cambridge closed out the game and defeated Arapahoe, 61-28.

For Arapahoe, Hayden Sich had 16 points, and Zach Einspahr had five points.
For Cambridge, Brady Ahlemeyer had 18 points, and Hodge Raburn had 14 points.
The Warriors are 0-20 and will host Bertrand on Friday.
The Trojans are 13-7 and will host Alma on Friday.
